Book #84
3/5
I am finally finished this book, which I have been reading since August. Honestly, I had a hard time getting my footing on this one. I was constantly asking myself if this was meant to be a thriller or horror novel. Turns out it was a thriller. I definitely didn't know where it was headed, and I don't feel entirely at peace with how it ended, but it was definitely unique.

This is the third Chapman book I have read and he never fails to launch me in his worlds that I think about daily. Truly his works are my Roman Empire.

The Remaking takes place in Pilot‘s Creek with the story of a mother and daughter who was persecuted by men for being witches. Their legacy lives on in cult horror movies and one haunted woman, Amber Pendleton. Just like Ghost Eaters, I will be thinking about this one for a long time. 4.75 stars!

Godfrey wrote a lot of books about cryptids and this is one of them. Most of the accounts in this book deal with people seeing upright canids resembling what we think of as werewolves. The author was once a newspaper reporter and thus very thorough in her investigations. She even had sightings of her own. Most people will dismiss this book as myth, but the world is full of mysteries like these. Five stars

65/150 Depending on how much the reader believes in this kind of phenomena, I think it will determine how much you enjoy this book. The author is obviously a true believer. There's a lot of speculation about the origins of dogmen (men with dog heads), Sasquatches, UFOs, dimensional portals, shadow creatures and other mysterious beings, but no questions of their actual existence. I tend to be pretty skeptical, ⬇️⬇️⬇️

RamsFan1963 but I still found it enjoyable and well researched. I'd be interested to read more of the author's books on the subject of weird phenomena. 3 ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 10mo

Well, I didn't see that coming... if you want to book that will keep you guessing this is it. My first novel by this author and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I love novels told in epistolary fashion. This one explores the urban legend of Slender Man through journal entry, blog posts, IM, and emails. It explores Slender Man's effect on a teenager as he tries to unravel the disappearance of another teen. It has good atmosphere, but the ending seemed somewhat forced.

This was a pretty interesting book that used different types of media to tell the story (journal entries, chats, texts, and prose). It definitely was suspenseful with the story being told from so many different perspectives combining a ghost story with a horrible act that everyone is trying to solve. The end was not what I expected at all, but in some ways, I felt like it fell a little flat. I liked it overall and would definitely recommend!

We made it through Covid & our quarantine. Vacation is great (though the fatigue lingers & it‘s tough to do too much in a day). It‘s absolutely gorgeous here in Door County! We‘re really enjoying our first visit.

JenReadsAlot Door Co is fantastic! Enjoy! 2y
shortsarahrose Love Door County! Highly recommended the breakfast at the White Gull Inn and Al Johnson‘s Swedish Restaurant (if you‘re lucky, Al Johnson‘s will have their goats 🐐 on the roof!) 2y
shanaqui Glad you made it through the COVID! Hope the fatigue improves soon. 2y
Shayhg I was just in Door County in April on a getaway with my husband. Loved it! We live not far south of it. Enjoy! Hope you feel back to normal soon! 2y
