Pickpick

Extended heavy rains in 1913 caused widespread, devastating flooding that impacted most of the eastern and central US, causing major damage and leading to flood mitigation efforts. Washed Away takes the reader through those days, focusing on Ohio and Indiana, the hardest hit, and telling the story through the experiences of individuals. A really compelling read! #ReadYourEbooks (May)

Low Pressure | Sandra Brown
Pickpick

Salacious and suspenseful, this has all the trappings of a Sandra brown plot. A picture perfect family who seems to have it all is upended a Memorial Day weekend when big sister Susan is murdered. Did the wrong victim get sentenced? Eighteen years later, her sister Bellamy writes a novel that opens the case wide again and as she befriends dent, former suspect and down-trodden pilot, there are people who want the case to stay closed.

The thing I love about the Kate Burkholder Series is that Catillo always seems to grab me pretty quickly. The way she has developed Kate and John Tomasetti is extraordinarily well. Though she does make me laugh when Kate says how safe her job is. It cracks me up because she's the Police Chief of Planters Mill, Ohio, with a small force. I enjoy that she writes about the Amish, and I get to learn a little something about them. Planters Mill ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ is about to be hit by a tornado. Choas ensues soon after. I liked that this one was a little more on the personal level. 2mo
TheAromaofBooks Great review!! I think Castillo does such a great job of portraying the Amish as regular people. 2mo

Finished this on the train back from a long weekend last week in Manchester Christmas 🎄 markets. disappointed with this one to be honest ; I adored outlander and ordered this from the library (thankfully didn‘t buy it ) after synop compared it to outlander. Dual time lines I love & usually I prefer the historical plotline but this never got going for me & I preferred the modern storyline. It was OK read & slightly dull for me

Soft pick. This summer camp story is Obviously Teaching You Things About The Deaf World, but is otherwise well done and engaging. Content notes for ableism and police brutality.
