My reading list for the next 8 weeks. 😶 Reserving judgement.

I will be living vicariously through Litsy friend posts. 💙

Leftcoastzen Can I take that class?!😉 2y
Tamra @Leftcoastzen I wish you would! 2y
squirrelbrain Woah, that‘s a *lot* of reading for 8 weeks, and none of it looks easy. 😬 2y

aa_guer2021 What a fascinating list!! I second @Leftcoastzen 2y
ravenlee I read five of those, but I think it was for two separate classes (which had additional reading, of course). I found them all pretty fascinating. 2y
ravenlee I particularly liked the Kuhn. Actually, I‘ve been thinking of rereading it, and this reminder might just give me the push I need! 2y
Ruthiella Good luck!👍 2y
Cathythoughts Looks like a good selection ! 👍 love the title ‘ Habits of the Heart‘ 2y
Tamra @Cathythoughts will you read it for me? 😉 2y
Tamra @squirrelbrain I wish it were a 16 week course instead to digest the material. 2y
Tamra @aa_guer2021 I don‘t feel “fascinated” in the midst of it. 😜 2y
Tamra @ravenlee my husband really enjoyed that work too! 2y
Tamra @Ruthiella thank you! 💙 2y
Cathythoughts If I was 20 years younger … yes absolutely! 😆 I‘d say it will be brilliant learning, and you‘re a good reader 👍 2y
aa_guer2021 @Tamra no, I guess not. Though hopefully more educated by the end, which to me is a win! 2y

Last assigned reading of the session. As important as economic behavior is, it bores me to tears. 😭

Hi all, I'm in need of some help!

For my MA this semester, I am discussing bierasure in YAL. I am trying to find YA books with openly bisexual characters and I'm drawing a blank. So far I have:
- Leah on the Offbeat
- Girl, Serpent, Thorn
- Heartstopper

Anyone have any other recs? xo

peanutnine The only YA books I can think of off the top of my head are 2y
AbigailJaneBlog @peanutnine thank you so much! 2y

DaveGreen7777 Hope this helps! 😊 2y
AbigailJaneBlog @DaveGreen7777 Aghhhh yesss thank you! 2y
Clare-Dragonfly The main character in this identifies as a lesbian and then falls for a boy, though (much to my frustration) the word “bisexual” never comes up. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly And Nina from the Grishaverse definitely likes boys and girls! 2y
Clare-Dragonfly I believe Adam from the Raven Cycle also identifies as bisexual. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly Also—literally the next post on my feed 😆 I bet @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian has more recs! 2y
AbigailJaneBlog @Clare-Dragonfly you're brilliant, thank you! 2y

Just rescued this out of discard. First line in the acknowledgements just got to me had to keep. 'Chris (“of all the places I've been, libraries are the sexiest“).' This is my quote of the day so awesome.

Pickpick

I don't really believe in passing judgment on classics™, but overall I really enjoyed reading this. I've read excerpts before, but never the whole thing, and Weber neatly ties together the early modern protestant thinkers' ideas with the economic circumstances of the world at the time, and how they formed the attitudes to labor and wealth we see today. Protestants be working.

"are you still reading this?" you ask. Yes, yes I am, mainly because I was sick last weekend (negative for covid, fortunately, but still lackluster, and once I felt better I still didn't want to go anywhere for a while just to be safe.) And then the beginning of this week kicked my ass. But! A garden cafe near my house has socially distanced seating, so I was there for lunch today.

"Evidently, then, the orientation of religious needs to present emotional satisfaction could not develop so powerful a motive to rationalize worldly activity, as the need of the Calvinistic elect for proof with their exclusive preoccupation with the beyond. " she said, eating a croissant ?. Yes this could have been translated better.

Buechersuechtling Obviously. I have no clue what the second half of the sentence wants to tell me … 4y
Buechersuechtling Okay, I did kind of a “dirty translation” into German and still don‘t understand the statement. Even though I understood the words … 4y
