She was 15 years old. 😧😕

Jess7 Surprised she hadn‘t heard of them until after 9/11? (edited) 6y
britt_brooke @Jess7 No school and completely sheltered. Still seems unimaginable. 6y
Jess7 Yeah, it‘s sad, but not super surprising to me. How do you like this one so far? I haven‘t started it yet, but I‘ve been meaning to. I have an arc of it 6y

britt_brooke @Jess7 I‘m about 1/3 in and it‘s okay so far. A little boring, somehow. Hoping it‘ll pick up soon. (edited) 6y
LauraBeth Wow 6y
booklover76 I literally just started reading this book. On the 2bd chap 6y
britt_brooke @booklover76 Hope you enjoy. I‘m finding it good, but a bit slow, so far. 6y
bio_chem06 I have this on reserve at the library. Think it might not be worth the read? @britt_brooke 6y
britt_brooke @bio_chem06 It‘s by no means bad. I‘d say give it a try! I‘m not quite halfway, and while it‘s a bit slow, it‘s still a worthwhile story (at least at this point). 6y
Zelma Wow, that is so removed from society. I can‘t even fathom not having experienced that day or having an emotional response to all. 6y
britt_brooke @Zelma They‘d recently gotten a tv and watched the news coverage the day it happened, but that was the first time she was aware they even existed. Still very removed. 6y
Kaye I‘m sure this book is interesting. The snippet you put in the post reminded me of one of my best friends from high school. She married a nutbag that didn‘t allow them tv,newspapers or radio. He bought the newspaper at work and gathered the family around so HE deciphered what news he thought they should know. I can‘t read books like this or cult type books. Her life ended badly . Her life was a nightmare. 6y
britt_brooke @Kaye That breaks my heart. I‘m so sorry your friend went through such a nightmare, and I‘m sorry that she‘s gone. 😔💔 6y
Kaye Yes so am I. She was always so ornery and funny and full of life. Til she married him. No birth control allowed. No medical care. She had 12 kids in 15 years. The last time I visited her he told me that a woman shouldn‘t be allowed out without her husband and I shouldn‘t have come alone. He also made derogatory comments about Gays. I stood up for them and he told me to leave because I was a bad influence on his kids. Religious nutbag. 6y
britt_brooke @Kaye 😳 That type of mentality is truly terrifying. 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @Jess7 read this one recently - really recommend it. Again, since it‘s a memoir of a 30yr old, you end wanting to know what happens but it‘s a good read for all that it has moments of “wtf... ?!?”. 😊 6y
Reviewsbylola Wow!! Sounds like she was close to my age. I had just turned 17. And I definitely knew what they were. 😂 6y
britt_brooke @Reviewsbylola Yep, and I was just shy of 19. It‘s unfathomable, but I guess if you‘ve never really been to school or had tv .... idk. 🤔 The crazy thing is the very next year she had her own cell phone. Two very different extremes. Some things in this book just don‘t add up. This is one of my issues. (edited) 6y

🙌🏻 Good advice. Unfortunately, some people really do need a reminder.
