Africana | Henry Louis Gates, Anthony Appiah

This (short) list may be useful for #readingafrica2022. I think it covers mainly #nigeria (in fact, the article says that Nigerians dominate the African literary space) but the short stories may be useful for covering a lot of countries!

Tove_Reads I‘ve read one from every country except São Tomé and Principe. There are a few challenging ones. I think about 5-7 countries only have 2 books every published. Don‘t remember exactly anymore. 2y
rockpools There are some nice links to other lists of Books set in Africa/by African authors in there as well. I hadn‘t come across that site before. 2y

This month‘s book subscription box from #reposed. I haven‘t even heard of this book before but it sounds fascinating.

3 bookmarks, some magic gloves to make my hands look young again and some yummy-sounding sweets…. What more could a girl want?! 👍😁

I‘ve been wanting to read this book for ages, and look what just arrived in this month‘s book box! I did have it bookmarked on Scribd, but a real copy is always so much better, don‘t you think?!

Also included were some lovely postcards, a coffee bag ( for hubby - I don‘t do coffee!) and some chocolate. 😋

squirrelbrain I really enjoy it @Mitch - I‘m into my second year now (hubby bought it for Valentines) and I‘ve only had one book that I‘d already read, and they‘ve all been great reads. The little treats are fab too - such a treat each month! 3y

The Little Snake | A.L. Kennedy

Pickpick

This bittersweet little book was part of my #reposed book subscription package this month.

It‘s a short fable about a beautiful golden snake who befriends a little girl. Beautifully written, it made me happy and sad.

It‘s supposedly reminiscent of The Little Prince and, indeed, Kennedy thanks Saint-Exupéry in her acknowledgments.
