"Myths may be home of the miraculous, but they are also mirrors of us."
I love this statement, as well as the idea it communicates. I think this is why myths are so timeless as well as why society (including myself) can't get enough of them in all their iterations.
I didn't expect the scholarly commentary format of this book, but I'm really enjoying it.

IuliaC I had no idea there were so many! 👍 I only read four of them a long time ago 😊 3y
Ast_Arslan @IuliaC three books for the mayfair witches and I guess around 15 for the vampires chronicles together with the new vampire chronicles 😅🤣 3y
IuliaC @Ast_Arslan Wow, good to know! 😁 3y
CaitlinDBurnside I only bought and read two before my local bookstore closed down due to retirement. "Interview with the Vampires" and "Queen of the Damned" in late 70s early 80s. Now the lady has passed away. RIP Anne Rice! 2y

The Olive Tree | Lucinda Riley
Pickpick

I'm a big fan of Riley and am working my way through her books. This wasn't my favourite but was still very enjoyable. The setting was unusual and the continual storyline was different from her usual two handed/historical prequel style which I really love. However I felt the interesting dynamics of a modern family struggling with secrets and prejudice was an interwring vehicle for a story and Rileys excellent prose kept me reading.

These stories are such fun! Pet peeve, though - cover picture doesn‘t follow description in the story.

Second book down for #24B4Monday and just over three hours in (plus some Nancy Drew with the kiddo).

BeansPage I have a pet peeve of that too with comic books LOL 😜 5y

Always good. Hephaistos‘ story is also Prometheus‘ story, and it raises lots of interesting questions on both fronts.

Book eight finished in #SummersEndReadathon and #24B4Monday and just over 19 hours!

One of the books on my personalized reading list from the #omahalibrary.

I like archaeological books, but usually the characters are Mary Sues/ Gary Stus that I DNF It.

Hoping this one will be different #pandora #iraq
