so-soI was pleasantly diverted, but there was a lot more following directions and flipping back and forth and trying to figure out where to restart than I thought. There was certainly a creative variety in the kinds of endings, but I think most of the time, even if it's not a linear narrative, I'd prefer a series of short stories that, at least PHYSICALLY, you read from front to back. The Borrowers is not the oldest book in my house but it is held very close to my heart. It‘s one of the very first books I was allowed to choose from the bookstore (a translated version). I remember my young self reading and rereading it a hundredth times over. It‘s well-loved. ❤️

I remember reading this. I've actually read it twice. It was gritty and may be credited for adding steam to the ever-popular "Urban/Street fiction" genre. I didn't care too much for Winter because she could've been better. She was definitely smart so I didn't like the dumb choices she made. As for the writing, Sister Souljah did an excellent job writing this book. #urbanfiction #nostalgiaread
