Finished this book this week ~ had to share this silly green stained head from my own butterfly chaser. To my #LitsyLove friends, I‘m worn out from life, nothing tragic and hopefully my upcoming vacation will recharge my batteries but please don‘t take it personally when I don‘t write back. I‘m simply out of extra creative energy.

This first part of this book jumps around a lot, but if you skip to chapter 10 there is some great writing on the issues facing rural ag communities, including: population loss, worldwide immigration, corporate farming practices, pollution and the urgent need for more sustainable solutions. If you want to better understand food, US politics, and climate; read this book.

Fun and quick read about the guys who made watching arguments entertaining. 👍🏼 I always enjoyed “Siskel & Ebert” — they were smart, sharp and opinionated. In this bio Siskel comes across as a jerk, though. 👎🏼 The “pranks” he played on Ebert behind the scenes weren‘t very funny — it sounds more like bullying to me. 😖 Thanks to @JoeMo and #AuldLangSpine for putting this one on my radar!

JoeMo I‘m so glad you enjoyed it! I was always a bigger fan of Siskel back in the day for some reason (I could never really explain why) but his behind the scenes pranks definitely went too far sometimes. 4mo

4 ⭐ This is a simple biography of Rube Goldberg for kids and adults alike. Goldberg was known mostly for his cartoons and fantastic machines used to do the simplest things. Goldberg went from being a person to being a verb and now kids and college students alike in compete to build Goldberg machines. This is both in honor of his memory, but also to kick a brain into high gear. This book is illustrated by someone

EXTRA!! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

What a fascinating family. From unethical actions such as paying off voters to support Lincoln's nomination (could you imagine if someone else had become the Republican nominee in 1860?) to influencing international leaders and styles. THE SCANDALS!! The Medills gave Jacie O her first job in journalism. I had never heard of these people, but I am so glad I read about them. They're the ones to thank for the "funnies."
