Finally enjoying some lovely porch time with my new patio furniture, cinnamon tea, and the tagged book (which I‘ve meaning to finish forever).

Ahh 😌 I seem to have shifted out of my reading-stuckness thanks to an application of Holmes and Moomintroll 😊
I'm up to The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton, which is an excellent story, but really doesn't show Holmes in a good light: it's one of those few where his actions and omissions are morally dubious, regardless of the iniquity of the villain.
Jansson's The Invisible Child is a wonderful child-appropriate exploration of the ⬇️

The Fir Tree is a Christmas story telling of the Moomins unseasonal awakening from hibernation, and their bewilderment about holiday traditions they've never experienced. Despite their confusion, the Moomin family carry the spirit of Christmas in their hearts, so all goes well.
Being unstuck, I've started on this newly-delivered counselling journal, with the theme "How can I be of help", which ⬇️

Bookwomble ... includes a paper on therapeutic stuckness, which seems timely for me 😆
And also started is a new-to-me translation of the Tao Te Ching by David Hinton in a pretty Macmillan Collectors edition. His introduction and glossary are useful and interesting, and searching some terms landed me on this paper about translating the work 🙂

I've had an amazing birthday weekend. Now I'm sitting in the sun looking at my gorgeous presents.
Off to see Indiana Jones with my kiddos this evening.
Ending the celebrations with a moth trap tonight to see what we have in our garden.

Picked up my interlibrary loan today. I love Tove Jansson‘s Moomin imagery and have been wanting to read the books for years. Last week I thought, “Duh. Use your library!” This is the first book in the series, originally published in Finland in 1945. It looks beautiful and I can‘t wait to start reading!

This was sent to me by a #BookCrossing friend. I'd not been familiar with the Moomin stories before, and I found these two stories charming and the illustrations delightful!

#BookReport

I‘ve finished The Sentence and The Christmas Chronicles.

I DNFed The Red Room

I read Moominland Midwinter and Bambi

I‘m currently reading A Tuscan Childhood.

Cinfhen What was the Red Room about?!!? 1y
AnneCecilie @Cinfhen Good question. It‘s a crime/ thriller. I read 40p so probably just the “intro” to the book. A therapist is asked in by the police to assess a man who‘s been seen lurking around a playground and as she leaves the room she‘s attacked by him. Then a poor woman is found dead near Regent‘s Canal. This is supposed to be most alike their Frieda Klein series. I just didn‘t feel like reading this now. 1y
Cinfhen It actually sounds good but I‘m all about if it‘s not grabbing you than put it down and move on! #AllHailTheBail 😊 1y
AnneCecilie @Cinfhen I know. I had actually planned to read something else last week, but then I saw that this book was due back at the library soon and I couldn‘t extend the loan any longer so I “had” to read it. I guess that‘s not a good way to start a book. 1y

The Moomins are asleep, when suddenly the Moomintroll wakes up. He will experience the winter for first, what the others are doing when the Moomins are asleep, and most importantly he will experience snow and learn that it fall from the sky.

Although it has been snowing, it rarely sticks in our neck of the woods, but does have a tendency to freeze on the pavement as sheets of ice. Seems like Moomintroll's adventures in the winter snow will be a good choice of next read ❄️⛄❄️
