I needed a book with a chronic illness in it, but I did not want to read a really sad one. I found this one through Google and really enjoyed it.
The plot of this one was unique, and involves really sweet friendships.

The problem with being a scientist and reading popular science not written by scientists, you find infuriating errors that are easily fixed with just a small amount of research. Leishmaniasis is not cause by a bacterium but by a protozoan parasite! I am only on page 24 and I don‘t even want to finish the book. #scientistproblems

#2021Book85
It might have been a bad idea to read about a germ lab that might be responsible for a bunch of people getting sick while we're still in the middle of a global pandemic, but I guess that's what happens when you start a book without knowing what it's about. This book was both interesting and infuriating. I‘d never heard of Plum Island and I became increasingly horrified as I learned about the events that have taken place there.

I don't have enough words to describe how phenomenal this book is! One of my favorite YA books of the year so far! Deals with chronic illnesses with grace, compassion, and also humor. Also, yes there's a werewolf! 😂 Plus the dialogue between the characters is hilarious and absolutely perfect! I love this book with all my heart!

Also dinner at my fave local restaurant! Mmmm! #bookndinner

LiteraryinLawrence Thanks for putting this on my radar! 3y
Caterina This looks like the kinda book I wish I'd encountered as a teenager dealing with chronic illnesses! Added to stack. ❤️ 3y

I really needed this right now. The idea of a multiverse where maybe you're living a better life if only you did this or that differently--I've spent too much time caught up on that myself. Sometimes things happen in life that leave you feeling changed and hopeless and maybe you distract yourself with someone else's problems but also maybe it's okay to be kind to yourself and make the steps you can. You can still be happy.

the message is chronic illness can feel like it takes over your life, that one feels out of control of their own body. And in all that anger you see the people that care for you most and that you can survive it, & live without your chronic illness totally controlling you.

But the sections with group chat was annoying, and I haven‘t seen books wi specified technology included fair well with age. 🤔🧐
