The Devil and the Deep: Horror Stories of the Sea | Ellen Datlow

It keeps being beautiful app week while I'm at work and then storming on the weekend. Just had a few huge thunder claps and the cats are spooked. I guess it's a good atmosphere to curl up with an anthology of nautical horror stories at least.

One more from The Forest City Cookbook. Goat Stew. Now goat isn't all that common around here but I have had it before (the first time was in a trip to Haiti in 2007ish) and it is quite delicious.

Some (okay quite a few) local chefs got together recently to publish this delightful cookbook full of recipes from around the city. It's absolutely wonderful. And it's over 500 pages with beautiful photos. I'm so happy I purchased a copy before they ran out.

Tagged book semi-unrelated. Local professor who wrote about the city's awful past.

Started this one last night. It's the last book left on my #readharder challenge: A book set within 161km of your location. This is actually a book about the city that I live in now. I am thinking sometime next month now that (hopefully) the rain is letting up. I have suggested Fire Roasted (king and talbot) for a meeting place because it's nice and central for everyone. brilliantglow @StellaDz yay! I've only lived here for a few years myself, so I don't have a plethora of meeting place suggestions either but I'd like to pick somewhere easy for everyone to get to. Which is why I've suggested this fire roasted location. Downtown is pretty central for anyone in town and easy to get to if you have to bus it, even if you've never been there before. Plus fire roasted is locally owned 😃 7y

drokka Ah meant to reply the other day, but I have a cold and the mess make me a bit whooohooo. 😂 I'm good with a central location and might be able to do early weeknights, but work change my schedule on a dime. Also, I rely on bus and have an early bed time due to having to get before the dawn. Weekends generally work better for me but if I know enough ahead of time I can maybe swing it. 7y

mcctrish Hi, sorry I have notification off on my phone so didn't see this. I can do evenings or weekends usually, and I know where fireroasted is. Are most people coming by bus or car? Parking is 👎🏻at that corner, there is also Black Walnut up by Oxford on Richmond but their hours aren't as late as Fireroasted I guess. 7y

mcctrish I may be out of town that weekend but nothing is confirmed yet ( I might be driving the after prom crew to Grand Bend) and I seriously have no idea when it will be confirmed since these are teenagers I'm dealing with 7y

mcctrish I should be able to get there 4:30-ish depending on work, traffic, softball games( my husband coaches at school) and my kids schedules ( it's just before exams so teams etc... should have wound down) 7y
