My favourite fantasy series. First time I've re-read it in over 10 years and it's still as good as I remembered.

I do need a break before the next book. Maybe something cheerful and not as complex?

This is me. I want all the women in his life to Murder on the Orient Express him.

I actually can't remember what happens to him and it's making me anxious that he's going to stick around and make things so much worse

Ruthiella Don‘t worry. He will get his just rewards. But the reader (and everyone around him) has to suffer him for a long while. 5d
PuddleJumper @Ruthiella 🥳🥳 Good to know! I figured he'd be around for a while. I just ... Everytime he appears there's so much rage 5d
RaeLovesToRead I love the using of "Murder on the Orient Express" as a verb ??? 5d

We are nearing the time where we say goodbye to FitzChivalry and hello to magic ships and I am so excited!

Next book for #RealmofElderlings will be Ship of Magic which starts the Liveship Trader trilogy. This is by far my favourite trilogy

I'll do a Farseer trilogy wrap up when the leaderboard gets generated

Are we excited to explore a different part of Robin Hobb's world? What are your expectations?

Laughterhp Do I need to have finished the other trilogy to enjoy this one? Because I only read the first book again for fitzchivalry. 2w

PuddleJumper @Laughterhp No, it's set in a different part of the world. I actually read this trilogy first on my original read through 2w
Laughterhp Oh okay, perfect! I‘m hoping I‘ll be more into the next trilogy. 2w
PuddleJumper @Laughterhp Farseer Trilogy is an outlier, it is the only series in 1st person I believe. I see prior recommending reading the Liveship Traders first before Farseer because by then you're invested and won't be easily put off 😅 2w
Enchanted_Bibliophile I'm excited to jump into the new trilogy 😃 (see what I did there) 😉 1w

The magic in this trilogy is god tier. The story is fast-paced & the multiple POVs are used skillfully to keep the pace quick and build the world. The political turmoil makes me wonder if the author is clairvoyant. Also, there are the coolest fucking dragons ever written. I could go on and on. Read this trilogy.

JamieArc Which is the first? I‘ve wanted to read a Robin Hobb book for a while but was intimidated, not knowing where to start. 5mo
Rachel.Rencher @JamieArc I started with Ship of Magic which is book 1 in the Liveship Trader trilogy, but I found out later it was book 4 in the Realm of the Elderlings universe. The trilogy I read is a standalone in the same universe, so I didn't miss out on anything by starting here. If you want to start at the VERY beginning though, go with Assassin's Apprentice which is book 1 of the Farseer trilogy. 🥰 5mo
PuddleJumper @JamieArc I'm running a readalong/book club where we read all of the books. We're starting with Assassin's Apprentice in February though you can jump in whenever. Everything is under the #RealofElderlings tag 5mo

One of the things that I love most about this book is the naming of the characters. There are names suited very well to the fantasy genre like Althea, Keffria, Malta, Grag, Wintrow, and Brashen to name a few. Then there's Kyle. And yes, Kyle sucks as a person. He's the absolute worst. His name stands out among the rest like a sore thumb and I think it's by design maybe? Idk, but I think it's hilarious.

Repost for @PuddleJumper

I've set up a book club on Storygraph about reading the entire Realm of Elderlings series - https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/29999d93-0689-409b-8291-72dbf71334bf

I'll host readalongs, buddy reads and I'll post on Litsy. I'm hoping to start February/March. Couple of things need sorting like reading order and whether some books need two months to read.
