pickThis kid made me thankful I was an only child until I was 11!!!! Fudge is a horror show and as a mom, I really feel for Peter. He's just expected to deal with all Fudge's drama and not get angry about it! I particularly liked the part when Peter talks about how to deal with getting mugged! There's 1970s NYC for you, though, isn't it?? A great story for kids and adults alike and I'm happy to revisit this one! #kidlitAtoZ
pickAn excellent middle grade ghost story about an old conjure woman who abducts little girls in the woods of West Virginia. She keeps them for 50 years, with the help of Bloody Bones, who is a gigantic skeleton made up of various animals' bones. Daniel has to find a way to defeat her to get his little sister Erica back! #kidlitAtoZ

A solicitor's clerk makes a deal with a tenant in his building to receive a sum of money for 7 years off his life. It wasn't expected that he'd give the first seven years! As expected, chaos and madness ensue. Definitely not for the average kid these days but an unsettling read nonetheless!

pickBrian Selznick is a magician. I've never read books as gorgeous as his and each one has its own special qualities. I do have to say that this was my least favorite but by no means does that mean it's a bad book!!!! Joseph runs away from his boarding school to find his uncle, a theater family, a house stuck in time and quickly realizes "aut visum aut non". Rich in detail and heavy on the feels, this story doesn't disappoint! #kidlitAtoZ
pickWhen am I going to learn to stop being a pre-judging judgy mcjudgerson? I‘m nearly 43, so I typically avoid middle grade books. I am so glad I gave this a chance. It‘s an exquisitely well-written mystery/fantasy and now I must read the rest of the trilogy. The characters are believable, some a little scary, and the plot was original. I wish this had been around when I was the target age. I‘d have loved it then, too.
pickI want to crawl inside this book and live there forever!!!! It's got EVERYTHING I love about NYC! The American Museum of Natural History, The Unisphere, the Queens Museum of Art and the Panorama! (I'm a HUGE NY World's Fair fan!)
On top of that, there's a wonderful tear jerking story about Ben finding his place in the world in the place he least expected. A great read for any age!

pickAn incredible story about finding yourself when you think all hope is lost. The illustrations in this book are like another character and there are tons of historical pictures as well! A well rounded middle grade book that's even great for young readers, as the illustrations push the story along really nicely. Loved it!!
