I know Tartt usually gets credit for “inventing“ dark academia, but what about FRANKENSTEIN? Wasn't the monster created at Victor's college: the University of Ingolstadt in Germany? Creating a monster at college seems pretty dark to me. #justathought 😃

dabbe @TheBookgeekFrau I showed YF to my sophomore honors as a reward for reading the book. Pretty much the only part they laughed at was the “Abby Normal“ part. They hardly saw any humor in at all! I was flabbergasted! It's my husband's favorite movie, that and BLAZING SADDLES. 🤣🤣🤣 8mo

Vansa There's such a recency bias in so much writing about books. Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson is “ dark academia“ as well,people were writing books about a lot of topics before the internet invented (mostly redundant) hashtags for things!!😂🤷🏾♀️ 8mo
