Life finally includes an iPad. Found an older generation for cheap on marketplace. Love the setup for ebooks and podcasts. Much more accessible than the Kindle just saying.

PurpleyPumpkin Recently, I was thinking of buying a Kobo or Kindle to use strictly for reading. I was drawn to the screens that are said to be easier on the eyes. But when I saw how small they are, I decided to stick with my iPad. At least for now. Congrats on your new-to-you iPad!😉 (edited) 4w
Suet624 Congrats on the iPad. I love mine. 4w
boozybookworm @PurpleyPumpkin Thank you! I think the designated e-readers are a bit overrated. iPad for the win💕 4w

Reading this book was painful, but in the right way. It gave language to things I‘ve felt but couldn‘t explain. It helped me realize I wasn‘t broken or alone. There are stories in it that made me cry—because I saw myself in them. Jamison writes with such care and respect for every life, even the ones lost.

I think this book might have saved me a little, or at least made me feel like I was worth saving.

“Suicidal people often feel completely alone—even when they‘re surrounded by others. The desire for someone to see them, to understand them, is profound. And when that doesn‘t come, the silence can feel like a verdict.”

I raved about Thorogood's graphic narrative over the weekend & it has displaced one my selections for #bestof2025 (Barry Windsor-Smith's raw & gritty Wolverine: Weapon X). It's Lonely etc was a ceaselessly surprising, deeply touching portrait of an artist's lifelong mental health struggles & the solace & freedom they were able to find in art. This is one I will be recommending for awhile.

vivastory *The Smith is def worth reading. Summer=great reading weather for superhero graphic novels & this is one of the better ones I've read. 2mo

I loved this graphic narrative of a young artist as they struggle with their own work & mental health issues. It's Lonely At etc is one of the most creative graphic narratives I have read in awhile, but there is a strong emotional & personal core throughout so it never becomes tedious or overly cerebral. Instead, it is a surprising exploration of mental health & the power of art. Just absolutely remarkable.

RaeLovesToRead I have this on the TBR. I've been avoiding anything too emotional for a while, but I do hope I manage to read it soon because it looks amazing 😊 2mo

#MentalHealthMonday check in

1. I‘m tired & disappointed I didn‘t sleep well. But I‘ll be OK. I have to remind myself it‘s not a moral failing to be tired.
2. I used to think feeling sad for ANY reason meant I was mentally unwell. I now know mental health (for me) isn‘t about feeling happy vs. feeling sad. It‘s about emotional regulation. Processing & expressing my feelings in healthy ways rather than ignoring them or trying to erase them. ⬇️

CatLass007 I found out in December that I have an ulcer. My GI doc told me to stop taking my arthritis medication, Celebrex, and all NSAIDS. My primary care doctor first prescribed a topical pain medication that didn‘t work. Then he dragged his heels about giving me a referral to Pain Management. I only stopped taking my old med last week and it‘s taking a couple of days for the new pain med to take effect. When I awoke this morning my knee hurt so (cont)⬇️ 5mo
CatLass007 much I could barely walk. Finally, finally! I started getting relief late this morning. I‘m figuring out how long I can go between doses and setting alarms accordingly. I feel very relieved. @Kerrbearlib Kerry, you are so right! I spent the first 30 years of my life not knowing there were no “bad” feelings. It‘s the expression of feelings that is either healthy or unhealthy. So I‘ve spent the last 30+ years of my life figuring out the (cont)⬇️ (edited) 5mo

CatLass007 The longer I spent learning the old way of thinking and behaving the longer I spend unlearning it all. It does get easier and it does get better. 5mo
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 I am glad you‘re getting some pain relief. I hope it continues! I‘ve spent a lot of time unlearning old ways too. It makes me feel hopeful to hear things get easier - thank you! 5mo
