Interesting book. I had read that it‘s one of the best revenge stories, so I was excited to read it. And it was a great revenge story, it just took a long time to get there. 200+ pages of getting to know the characters and their lives did make the last 100 pages satisfactory, but I did have to remind myself this was written in 1980. Overall, good slow burn revenge.

Horror!

Creepy cover buy!

I love alien horror & this author writes horror well. Creative & fun!!

Body snatching aliens & teenage nerds are on to them. Who will win.

The carving off of the dying human remains … so gross. Loved it!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

A solid gothic horror. A little too slow paced for my taste, but it delivered on its promise, and I always love seeing a woman get revenge on the rich family that wronged her.

4 ⭐️

It starts with a quote from Hansel & Gretel, but it‘s much more like Flowers in the Attic meets White Fur.

Here's a ghost story with a burn so slow that you'll forget you're reading a horror novella until the punch lands. Add Norman Prentiss to the list of writers I really must read more of.

Ok, everyone... what kind of flower is this? 🤔. Looking for my next #readyoursign pick. Any chance this is some orchid?

cleoh My first inclination is to say orchid, but I‘m definitely not an expert 4y
Cinfhen My first thought was Orchid 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Maybe a really huge calla lily. 4y
Sweettartlaura @BarbaraTheBibliophage Calla lily - that‘s it! I had a suspicion it was something other than an orchid - but I‘ve seen such a wide variety of orchids that I figured I‘d ask. Thank you! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Sure! 🤩 4y

Not even a few pages in, and I've chucked the book across the room and swore it off! The title was more than misleading. It went into extreme description of animal abuse performed by the main character, Pluto. As an animal lover, this unsettled me and damn near broke my heart. More than anything, I wanted to invoke violence towards Pluto!

Feeling very nervous about this little psychological thriller. I hope the title isn't misleading!
