I‘m a little bit late today. My modem decided to freak out and I spent most of the day trying to get the tiniest bit of internet. They are sending a new one, but it‘s going to take a couple of days. I might disappear again, but I will eventually be back. Anyway, I did not expect the story to go where it did. Sanderson never fails to surprise me. I can‘t wait to hear what you all think. #CosmereBuddyRead

Andrew65 @JacqMac I‘ve just started chapter 15 so only about two weeks behind now 😂 Better than 2 books behind! 😳 Hope to catch up before the next book! Really enjoying this one. Very different to the initial trilogy. Interesting to see how (if) if joins up in the future. 13h

JacqMac @Andrew65 Two weeks is much closer. Lol I‘m starting to panic a little because I haven‘t been able to find a copy of the next book yet, but I‘m sure I will get one in time. I‘m also wondering if there will be a crossover of some sort in the future. 13h

It's #readathon time! My stack has a bunch of short reads for when I need a break from the chunksters. My kindle is there to represent The Hero of Ages and Warbreaker that I need to catch up on for the #CosmereBuddyRead 😅

Leniverse I've fallen so far behind! I'm still on the previous book. My Easter Crime reading hasn't helped. Fortunately this weekend will be the 24-hour readathon, and I intend to do a Cosmere binge. 😁 Am I right that this one is a standalone? Is it the same world, different era, or completely different? 1w

Meshell1313 @Leniverse oooh I‘m excited to see what you think of the ending of Hero of ages! This one I believe is a stand alone in the Cosmere world but I think the magic system makes it feel very different. But it‘s just as good- maybe even better. 1w

JacqMac @Meshell1313 I love the magic system. Breath and colors is a genius idea. I like you aren‘t quite taking their soul, but you‘re taking their colors. You can picture a little piece of them missing. 7d

JacqMac @Leniverse Yes, it‘s a standalone. Everyone and everything is different, yet it feels similar. Probably because it‘s the same universe. You‘ll see when you start reading. It‘s big, but I find it even harder to put down. I don‘t think you‘ll have any trouble catching up. 7d

rabbitprincess I loooove that Lightsong seems to have been a detective or investigator in a previous life! My first thought was “Sweet, free murder mystery with my fantasy novel” 😂 His desire to seem indolent and frivolous reminds me a bit of Lord Peter Wimsey, but there is probably another detective out there who is a closer match. Maybe Columbo? 4d

Roary47 @rabbitprincess I agree I love the murder mystery detective side and really just Lightsong himself! He is such a fun character especially when he is with “Scoot”. I really like the God King and Siri‘s growing relationship and the mystery of why shortly after the heir is born the God King might die. What is really going on? I hope Siri and Lightsong are able to get to the bottom of it. 3d

I am in love with this one already. Sanderson is so great with character development. I was thinking that he might keep the magical system somewhat the same for the whole universe, but I guess not. Just where does he come up with these ideas?

Meshell1313 At first I was sad to leave Elend and Vin! But now I‘m even more obsessed with Siri and Vivenna! I also expected the metal magic system but now this one involves colors? I‘m hooked! 2w

rabbitprincess My skin was crawling for a good chunk of this first part at the idea of the king of Idris having to send a daughter to be a « vessel » to the God King ? the colour magic system is cool, though, and both Siri and Vivenna seem to be holding their own so far ?? 2w

JacqMac @rabbitprincess I do find it hard to believe that someone with a strong independent personality would react the way Siri did. I expected her to put up a fight or run away or something. But I guess we will see where it goes. 2w

Roary47 I finally got through the first part, and I also am loving it! @rabbitprincess I agree with dreading one of the daughters being a “vessel” and also how she is even called this when she gets there. I really like the changing hair color like a mood ring, and there is deeper stories I‘m exciting to unfold. Hopefully, I can catch up so I can chat at the same time with everyone at our next checkin. 🥰 1w

Wow. I‘m okay with how it all ended. And I love that it wasn‘t predictable. But I‘m kinda sad about it, too. I can‘t wait to hear what you all think. I‘m looking forward to starting Warbreaker. I‘ll post the schedule in a bit. Just deciding how to split it into parts.

JacqMac @Meshell1313 I mean, it makes sense that it‘s Sazed, so I‘m okay with it. But I really wasn‘t expecting it to be. Maybe I missed some clues. I think I might find myself rereading the whole trilogy one day. I think I might find things that I missed. 3w

rabbitprincess I literally gasped out loud (on the bus 😅) at what happened to Elend, especially because of how directly and simply it was stated. I found Sanderson consistently good at that casual shock throughout the trilogy. High stakes, real consequences. But lovely moments too, like the flowers 😭😭😭 3w

Andrew65 I got way behind due to life and some health issues. Trying to play catch up. Currently half way through Hero Of Ages and hope to be caught up before every one finishes War Breaker. 7d

I forgot to post my list, but here are my #ReadYourKindle books. I'm quite eager to read them all, but will I actually do it? Probably not, since my kindle also contains 3 books from this year's #WomensPrize for fiction, 1 from the #InternationalBooker and the #CosmereBuddyRead books 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know it all counts, but damn I really want to read these four as well.

Sanderson is clearly going to be all over my #2025readingbracket thanks to our #cosmerebuddyread ! There were so many great new releases but I will be thinking of this trilogy ending for a long time! Could end up being my fav of the year even! Let‘s see what‘s next!
