This might be my favourite read of the year so far. A reflective, character-driven story, where the richly described landscape is as much a character as the two women at the centre of the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Alison Espach writes about specific thoughts and feelings in a really piercing and authentic way. I felt like these characters were so real and complex, and I was genuinely moved by the story from start to finish. The narration was also fantastic. This one will stay with me.🎧

It‘s not until near the end of the book that we learn the significance of the title, and it‘s a little disappointing, to be honest. Also, I think the way the author ended the novel is what made me rate it only 4 stars. It was quite abrupt and a bit of a let down and mood breaker. But this was a charming coming of age novel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
