Wild Truth | Carine McCandless
post image

Anschauen!

What do you call it when you skim the entire book because you don't like the author, only stopping to read certain parts you are looking for? Is it a bail, unfinished or finished? Really want to know.

staci.reads Maybe Litsy should add a "ended up skimming" button ? I could have used it a few times. (I think it counts as a pan). 4y
Prairiegirl_reading I say it‘s read. You got what you were looking for and it‘s not like anything else would have resonated had you read every word. And I agree that would be a pan. 4y
Daisey I count reads like this as a pan. I figure if I went through the whole book it counts as finished. 4y
keys_on_fire Almost like there should be a “Finished With It” button instead of just DNF! 4y
Kenyazero I'd call it self torture but also read 4y

Finished this wonderful book just now. I had known about it for quite a while. And owned it a while too. Now was the perfect time to read it and revisit the story of “Into the Wild” in a new way. Carine‘s story added so much and in many ways helped my own healing from trauma. Great book especially when paired with the previous book by Krakauer.

I‘m around 75% into this book and I am really enjoying it. It is definitely not what I expected and has been healing for me as I read because of my own childhood trauma. The book has brought me to tears at times and leads me to a spirit of overcoming hardships and moving forward. I read “Into the Wild” back when it first came out and was greatly impacted by it as well.

I've seen the world, done it all
Had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, in Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights, mid July
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child🎶

Chris McCandless‘s sister shares intimate background on brother Chris and their parents. Why did he forsake civilization and crave the wilderness?

This was really excellent. What an interesting experience this book provides! This book, written by Chris McCandless‘ sister is just so brutally honest and unflinching and gives a whole new perspective of his story. If you liked Into the Wild, this is a MUST read. Caring really develops this story and enlightens the reader on Chris‘ life and journey.
