Inspired by a story her grandfather told her when she was a child, Appelt has crafted a delightful story about a camel who must take care of two kestrel chicks who get separated from their parents during a dust storm. The camel distracts the chicks by telling them stories about her life & how she went from being a prized racing camel in Turkey to living in Texas.
