I first learned that Monopoly board games were used in WWII from, “The Ways We Hide” by Kristina McMorris. Her book was good and I‘d recommend it, but I wanted more of the Monopoly story. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this book 🤩 If you‘re looking for a fascinating, less than 300 page non-fiction read, THIS IS IT! I want to tell everyone I meet now about this amazing, almost lost forever, story from WWII.

When hubby is having his friends over to play video games (I swear he‘s an adult, but definitely an ‘elder millennial‘ 🤣) but it‘s too hot to read outside, we improvise by reading in our bedroom by the window and 2 fans blowing on us 🤣🤗👍

Bookwormjillk I tried to read on the porch but it was just too hot. 4mo
Aims42 @Bookwormjillk Right? It‘s hot, it‘s humid, it‘s gross 🥵 I am living for the weather beginning on Wednesday. Highs in the 70‘s 🤩🤩🤩 4mo
TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk I tried to read outside with my lemonade… I lasted 5 whole minutes… 😬🥵 4mo

KadaGul Weather 🤬😡🤬!! The Chicago weather sucked this year. Last year, we were grilling and chilling from May to mid-July. But this year? It was freezing until the first week of June, and then it just got super hot and humid or ridiculously high in pollen. #GlobalWarmingIsReal 4mo
Aims42 @KadaGul You are so right! 😩 I told my coworker in mid-June that it was too early for this silliness BUT THEN IT DIDN‘T GO AWAY 😭😭😭 Now when we have a seasonably warm day with low humidity I‘m like, “what‘s up? Is there a big storm blowing in??” 🤨 Your hashtag is spot-on accurate 🎯 4mo

TheBookHippie @Aims42 it was warm when I came inside WTH 😵‍💫 4mo
Aims42 @TheBookHippie Boooooo 👎🙈 4mo
TheBookHippie @Aims42 this humidity and air quality alerts daily is madness… 4mo
Aims42 @TheBookHippie It is! I can‘t recall another summer this bad. I remember heatwaves in the 1990‘s but this is a whole other beast. And a beast that isn‘t going to get better or go away 🫣 4mo
TheBookHippie @Aims42 I know 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 4mo
ncsufoxes I can‘t read outside because of the heat but also the lantern fly invasion plaguing MD. 4mo
Aims42 @ncsufoxes I just looked up what a lantern fly is and OMG! 🚫🚫🚫 No, thank you. I wouldn‘t be able to read outside with those flying around either 4mo

I will not call this "Aligator anything", no this is Donald's Dachau...the 1st concentration camp established by the Nazi's. They were so proud of their 1st concentration camp that they would have sold merch if they could have too.
If you're feeling hopeless, overwhelmed and like you have no control over any of this...remember calling it what it is , a concentration camp is resistance. Joy is resistance, knowledge is resistance. Resist

I created a special cubby on my bookshelf filled with some of my nephew‘s books. Some were in his backpack when he died, others were ones we had bought together or I had gifted him. The framed item is his Ex Libris stamp. The flowers from one of the funeral bouquets we were sent. It‘s a sweet way to be reminded of him every day since we connected so deeply over what we were reading.

Bookwormjillk That‘s a beautiful tribute 5mo
