What a powerful and wrenching memoir. It depicts the authors journey in therapy seeking approval for HRT. The first therapist she meets with (and ends up seeing for 6 months) is the worst one possible for her. A long read (over 900 pages) but it really does fly by. I found myself angry on Emma‘s behalf many times and I‘m glad she finally found the right therapist.

I‘ve never wanted to punch someone in the face more. This is a therapist browbeating and not believing their client. This memoir is good but so rough.

Bright and funny from the outside, cynical and dark humored from the inside. A good (yet not great) contemporary and very American read. Thanks @ClairesReads for letting me stumble upon it.

I am a glutton for anything psychotherapy…but this book cannot seem to sink its claws into me. Full of interesting insights, I have appreciated a few thought-provoking nuggets, but it‘s all too scattered to feel invested in. I‘m going to move onto the graphic audio of Iron Flame that just came through on Libby 😂

Shows what life is like for kidnapped kids and their families once they return home. Especially heartbreaking for Dylan who is nonverbal autistic. Everyone heals at their own rate, and it can take a while for the traumatic memories to surface ❤️‍🩹

Dodged a bullet? Cricket didn‘t due to Gun Loving Loon Kristi N. In Dead Boss Cemetery Vol. III, a gun club faces an ugly, and grotesque scene. The leader shoots her head off when her gun misfires. OH NO! It‘s time for therapy again! https://tinyurl.com/yc2kr2fn

5-7-24: My 12th finished book of 2024! I love A.M.Homes. Claire is a therapist who is married with 2 sons. Back in 1966, she was forced to give her daughter up for adoption. Jody is a twenty-something film intern/student who becomes Claire‘s patient and her obsession. Could Jody be Claire‘s long lost daughter? Homes always make you feel uncomfortable, which feels real. I love that about her. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣1️⃣2️⃣

Mehso-so

Vaginas that feel like castles; killing bees; adultery; a dark compact between mother and daughter; stalking; sexual obsession. If that does not intrigue you, then skip this. All of the above happens in a quaint New York hamlet that people move to to become the better version of themselves. But what happens if there isn‘t a better version of you? Darkly madcap. So startling, it disgusts; so hyper real, it excites. Will be better as a film.
