I skim read the majority of this because I didn't like the writing. It was awkward and badly paced.

The story lacked a lot of tension and felt very low stakes even though it was constantly telling me how high stakes it was.

I think I would like the characters more written by a different author.

BookwormAHN I think another would have done a lot better with the tension and I would have preferred more focus on Merrin instead of Cal. I thought she was more interesting. 3d

This first chapter of a new trilogy to bridge the original trilogy and the sequels is okay. A new band of heroes join together to disrupt a gathering of rogue Imperials who are attempting to keep the Empire from fading away. There was a lot of character work, so much that I kept having to remind myself exactly what the plot was. Not overly memorable, but good enough to continue the series.

RamsFan1963 I liked the 2nd book, Life Debt, more than the first, mainly because of Han Solo and Chewbacca 4d

Bookish Songs Nr. 5( & 59: The Phoenix - Fall Out Boy & Big Bad Wolf - Roses & Revolutions

This book was so good, I found two songs for it! Or rather - they found me. First came The Phoenix and I immediately was like “That's it!“ I wasn't looking for another song, when “Big Bad Wolf“ came up and I listend to it twice, because first I wasn't paying attention too much. So I now have two songs for one book.

How come that all those new Star Wars books are getting better and better? Iskat is so fascinating and Dawson really took her time to shape a deep character. I now also want to read the comics she's featured in. This book is a real character study and I was involved from beginning to the end. Wow!

I have NEVER DNFed a Star Wars book, but after 25%, I could tell this wasn't something I wanted to continue. On to better things.

Pruzy Wow! I read this when it first came out. I didn‘t mind it but I thought Death Troopers by Schreiber was way better 2w
Jari-chan Wow, DNF'ing a Star Wars novel - you're hardcore! 2w

I am happy to report that I have yet to be disappointed by a Star Wars book. I bought this as soon as I found out who the author was. And the fact it was a General Organa story certainly didn't hurt. I really enjoyed it. Lots of action and a solid plot. I did have to look up some of the species mentioned along the way because there just are so many I can't remember them all. Book shown with my husband's recent etsy SW blaster purchase.

In March we met up with Cal and Crew in Battle Scars.
Now it's time for the dark side to rise.

As always if anyone wants to be added or removed just let me know.

And May the Force Be With You Always
