Phew- finally finished this series. This last one was a rollercoaster of emotions and I wasn‘t sure how they were going to end it and if everything would be resolved. I feel very satisfied with the ending and I will miss these characters. Still, in these dystopian worlds you are always left wondering what is next. #seriesread2022

TheSpineView Fantastic! 3w
KristiAhlers I loved this series. I thought she did an excellent job of yanking us through the angst and suspense and romance. Totally felt the last book was a solid and deserving ending. 3w
Meshell1313 @KristiAhlers yes! Exactly! Have you read This Woven Kingdom by her yet?? That‘s my fav so far! 3w

This was my #Egypt book for #ReadingAfrica2022: I gave it a good try, and it is well written, but too complex as an audiobook. It describes the rise to power of Haphepshut, a consort and regent in patriarchal ancient Egypt, who unusually became Pharoah, navigating complex gender and family roles and power conflicts. I found the core issues intriguing, as well as reading about an unfamiliar history.

For my whole adult life, I thought the massacre was political, similar to the Romanovs.

Thoroughly researched. An unbiased account of a truly horrible event. #Nepal

The Princess Trap | Talia Hibbert

Kind of wanted to bail but gotta hit my year reading goal!!

It wasn‘t that the book was bad. It had moments of tenderness and insight. I liked how to author never made the character self conscious of her body, but made it normal and celebrated. I just felt disconnected from the story and uninterested.

This early Hibbert had a lot more depth than expected. Not a light and fluffy read. Great preview of how she explores issues of race, illness, domestic abuse, and of course, romance.

I don't often read romance, but every so often I really appreciate the change of pace. This is a new author for me but I'm really glad I took the chance. Within the first few pages I was already in love with the general tone. Can't wait to see how it progresses.
