Iza's Ballad | Magda Szabo

#NYRBBookClub lovelies, here are my picks for March. All international translated lit by women, perfect as well for our #ReadIntl2020. Tagged book is translated from Hungarian, Pretending is lying is our first NyRB comic read by Belgian artist Dominique Goblet (her 1st book to be translated in English), & The Bridge Of Beyond by a French novelist of Gouadeloupean origin. Looking forward to seeing which book will have the most votes!

#AuldLangReads Day 15: These are both #NewToYouAuthor(s) for me. I found both on Goodwill while book hunting in Antioch. I always keep an eye out for international translated titles such as these especially as we are doing A Year Of International Literature #ReadIntl2020 at GatheringBooks.

#DearDecember Day 30: Our #ReadingGoals2020 at GatheringBooks. Overarching theme for 2020 is to read international literature, but we also have our quarterly reading themes as you can see above. Do join us and use the tag #ReadIntl2020. My goal is to read from 30 countries. We define international lit as translated titles, or books published outside of Canada, US, UK by people of colour, or narratives of im/migrants whose 1st lang is not English.

#DearDecember Day 23: This translated title from the world-renowned Murakami has a #SilverCover. Hopefully I get to read it next year for our #ReadIntl2020 theme where we are featuring international and/or translated titles from all over the world.

KarenUK My favorite Murakami 💕 4w

#HollyJollyReading Day 23: I have a feeling this is going to be my #HolidayMovie - but more like a TV series binge. Brought the first two books with me as well here in the US for my January reading which marks the end of our #WomenReadWomen2019 theme and the start of our #ReadIntl2020 theme where we feature international/translated titles from all over the world.

OriginalCyn620 I want to watch this too! 4w
