Raymond Chandler's Los Angeles | Raymond Chandler, Alain Silver, Elizabeth Ward

I picked this up at my local indie bookstore last night and it is so cool! My parents grew up in the LA area and we took frequent trips there to see my grandparents when I was growing up. I lived in the area for a few years myself as a newlywed. I love LA and I think that's why I keep coming back to Chandler.

It‘s too hot to stay inside an AC free building. This seems about right to reread during a heatwave 🥵

Pickpick

dramatization of book, Farewell My Lovely by Raymond Chandler. Philip Marlowe 2nd mystery. setting is California 40s. Moose Malloy is looking for red-haired Velma Valento. Malloy has smashed up the club, broken the manager's neck, and headed out of the door. Marlowe has a hunch that he can find Velma. He just has to hope that curiosity doesn't get him killed. Story full of wisecracks & colorful characters & humor of Chandler. Highly recommended!

Ruthiella I‘ve only read The Big Sleep but the dialogue was so crazy fun to read! 5y
EadieB @Ruthiella This one brought me up to 240 of the 1001 books. Thought I had 236 but it was 239. 5y

✅By an author who shares your birthday
This one is a tough one! Never thought I'd be able to find any author who was born on 23rd of July but here he is!!! #RaymondChandler and Not only I've found the author, I've also by chance found out I actually have a copy of his book! I got this from a second hand bookstore many years ago cause I collect this edition. Now I feel that I'm destined to read this!

Mehso-so

I can‘t say that I really ‘got‘ why this book is a classic. It was - for me - just ok. Read for a challenge this year, otherwise, it would never have been on my radar.

Gennic Huh, I‘ve never heard of this one before 5y
sk888888 @Gennic My library didn‘t have The Big Sleep, only the Annotated version! Go figure. I skipped the annotated pages. The book was printed on the left page, all the notes on the right page, so it was easy to read. 5y

@Amandajoy thank you so much for the annotated The Big Sleep. I adore Chandler and I‘ve been excited about this book since I first heard of it! Thank you, too for the treats! The caramels were tasty and I‘m excited about the hot chocolate thingy! 🖤
Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing this lovely swap! 😍🍫📖

Amandajoy I‘m glad you like it. I forgot to include a card, so Merry Christmas! 🎄 5y
