The Earthquake Bird | Susanna Jones
post image

1. Tagged. The Earthquake Bird by Susannah Jones. I remember being obsessed by it some years ago. - I even once missed my commuter train stop on my way home from work at theatre in the middle of the night because I was so hooked 😅
2. Unheimlich (=eerie, uncanny), a YA romantic thriller omnibus by Ursula Isbel. Got it on my 13th b'day. Still reread it every once in a while.
3. After Dark and/or Dance Dance Dance, my two faves by Haruki Murakami.

StaceGhost Yuki I love your choices! Murakami is such a good reread. I think my most rereads are boring— Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, and Anna Karenina. 11h
dabbe Yowza! 3 I've never heard of and now on the TBR. Thanks for sharing. 💚💙💚 11h

Yuki_Onna @StaceGhost Classics aren't (necessarily😉) boring! At least not Jane Eyre😁
I've never read the other two. I must say that I'm impressed by your rereading of Anna Karenina 🤯

I seldom intentionally try to solve the mystery when reading a book, and try to just sit back and enjoy the ride. This is one of those books that automatically put my brain into solving mode. I didn‘t trust any of the characters and felt suspicious towards just about everyone. By the conclusion, I was right and wrong! And I loved it! There were unexpected layers and satisfying twists.

DI Kim Stone's, 5th installment is about the murder of Deanna Brightman and Maxine Wakeman. Their stab wounds were very similar so they knew it was the same killer. Dr. Alex Thorne, from the 2nd book in the series, is back in the picture from prison trying to bring Kim down. Kim's mother is attempting parole and Kim tells them she is not ready to be released.

EadieB These are the highlights of this book. You need to read this book in order to get the full picture of what is happening. The book is full of twists and turns which forces me to read until the surprise ending. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. If you love thrillers that you have no idea who has done it then you will love this book. The reading is extraordinary and the writing is delightful! 1mo

Trying to get back into reading by starting this book in one of my favourite series. Been a busy and difficult few weeks, with at times pains making it difficult to concentrate on the reading. Hope this pacy read will help me build up focus again.

Andrew65 @TheSpineView Hopefully, slow but sure but you never can tell with the Crohn‘s Disease. At least I‘m able to read a bit more. 2mo
Bookwormjillk Hope it does the trick for you Andrew. Hang in there. 2mo
Andrew65 @Bookwormjillk Thanks. Have been able to focus on it better today. Hot water bottle seems to help some of the discomfort. (edited) 2mo

Andrew65 @LiseWorks Thanks, good to get some reading done yesterday and to be able to concentrate on it. 2mo

Andrew65 @kspenmoll Thanks, unfortunately this happens with the Crohn‘s, don‘t think it likes Winter! 2mo
Andrew65 @eri.reads Sorry to hear about the RA, another awful chronic condition. Hoping you do get that relief as know what it‘s like with that constant pain. Take things slowly and carefully. Good to see you back. 2mo
Andrew65 @CoffeeNBooks Thanks, it‘s taking each day hour by hour, and then the pain and discomfort getting worse at times especially after each for the next few hours. That has made it difficult to concentrate. But some relief compared to what it was.Hope you are well. 2mo
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Thanks Diane, very much appreciated. Awful when your own body is the thing that fights itself and causes the problem. However we all have our own crosses to bear. Hope everything is good with you. 2mo
Andrew65 @janeycanuck Thanks, fingers crossed the worst is behind me on this occasion. More blood tests in a couple of weeks. 2mo
Crazeedi @Andrew65 we're all growing older with bodies that say it to us. But a life well lived is the goal, and books help us realize that. And this community keeps our spirits vital and alive! Many blessings Andrew. I've struggled with so much too, but I still get to wake up every morning! Hugs 2mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Hope you‘re feeling better, Andrew!! I‘ve been wanting a hot water bottle for ages!! Especially because my cats monopolize the heating pad!! Hope all goes well with blood tests. @Crazeedi is right….once, years ago, I saw an older woman with a T-shirt on which said “growing old ain‘t for sissies”….at the time I was in my 20s and I thought she was being ungrateful because I knew so many young people who had passed. Now I understand…. 2mo
Bookwomble I hope you're continuing to feel better, Andrew 💖 1mo
Andrew65 @Bookwomble Thanks, a bit up and down, but better than I was ❤️ 1mo
Tove_Reads Hope you‘re feeling better now! This series is definitely one of the best! 1mo

4.5⭐
This was a fun book to try and figure out what was going on…it pulls you in quite effortlessly. Despite the ending feeling somewhat unbelievable…I was still engaged throughout. The narration performed by a full cast, played a role in that engagement.

Love this series adaptation on Hulu so thought I‘d see if the novel reads the same - it does not, quite. (is this coming back for another season??🤞)

If you like psychological thrillers, this book would be one you would like. I had difficulty putting it down. The characters are different, as one would expect of people who study serial killers. Isolation is the norm in much of Alaska. I wasn‘t sure how it would end. I love a good mystery and this one filled with moments that were somewhat shocking.
