Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance is a book I‘d recommend to privileged white men who take themselves too seriously. For me? It was fine, but not one I‘ll be re-reading. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance-r...

As usual, I'm wrapping books and having to pause before taping down the dust cover. #underthedustcover

TieDyeDude 😍 I can't say I haven't bent the cover of a hardback backwards to see what is under the dust cover of a library book 3mo
mandarchy @TieDyeDude I'm totally guilty, too 3mo

1. Yes! I love a manual transmission and wish I could still get one in the US. We rented a car in Madrid one time, and they gave us a huge upgrade when we said we could drive a manual transmission. They were so relieved that we didn't need an automatic after all the Americans in line before us. One of the reasons I want to live in Europe, at least for a few years.

Thanks for the tag @The_Penniless_Author !

ImperfectCJ Well, my reasons for wanting to live in Europe are different (and growing as 2024 wears on), but the manual transmissions are a significant bonus to the idea. 4mo
Amiable I'm with you! My husband and I want to live in Europe for several reasons -- including 2024! 😬 We also both know how to drive a stick so that isn't a problem. 4mo
TheSpineView Thanks for playing! 4mo

Very interesting depictions of South America just before the millennium. Also good if you like motorcycles.

Bailedbailed

I‘ve been listening to this book for a few days but after a strong beginning I kind of lost what the book was about and couldn‘t make myself really care. So I am bailing. The good news is that I started another audiobook (I Have Some Questions For You) and that one is able to hold my attention so far! #1001books

squirrelbrain I can imagine that Questions might be good as an audiobook as it meanders along (that‘s the kind of audio I like anyway!) 7mo
Megabooks @squirrelbrain and Barbara I read questions on audio and agree that part is well done even if I didn‘t enjoy the plot. Hope it‘s working for you B! 💜 7mo
BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain @Megabooks I thought it would be better to do it audio because it is so long and many Littens were disappointed by it in the end 7mo

I seem to feel much the same as many other Litsy reviewers about this book. There were descriptive parts I thoroughly enjoyed, like the section about riding a motorcycle on the salt flats, but overall it was a long listen that often lost my full attention. I‘m not sure what I was supposed to get from it, and it definitely jumped around confusingly at times.

4.5 ⭐ When ever I read this title, Jim Goche starts playing in my head. He was singing about Roller Derby Queen, but I easily change it to Motorcycle Queen. I think Bessie would have liked it. Bessie was a woman before her time. She was free with her own set of wheels to take her any place at the flip of a penny. This book does an excellent job of giving the reader a window to her world. The author made poetry, and did not miss the hard,

Mehso-so

I LOVED The Art of Hearing Heartbeats so I was excited to see a new book from author Jan Phillip Sendker.
Unfortunately this really didn‘t live up to my expectations. I‘m not sure if the translation was part of the problem or if it was the hokey modern remake of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. The story just lacked depth. #MoreMehThanYeah
It‘s very close to a pan but I did finish it so there‘s that. #ISpyBingo #Motorcycle
