"I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul"
I'm currently reading/listening to 5 books.
Two of them, one Historical Fiction, the other a Memoir, have referenced this poem!
A strange and interesting literary coincidence ?

BookmarkTavern Love this poem! 2mo
TheHeartlandBookFairy @BookmarkTavern Honestly, I can't recall ever reading it, at least in its entirety, before now. But having it referenced in 2 books within a couple of days of one another (Spare, and The Lost Book of Bonn) was enough to send me hunting for it and now it's a favorite! 2mo
BookmarkTavern I highly recommend heading to YouTube and finding a video of Morgan Freeman reading it. It‘s amazing. 💕 2mo
TheHeartlandBookFairy @BookmarkTavern I'll definitely do that, thank you! 2mo

#MusicalNewYear Day 19: The message is really plain and fairly-simple enough: Peter needs to fly home for dinner. But the message goes horribly twisted along the line, the #TelephoneWire if you may, becoming ever more strange as it is passed down from one winged creature to the next. And there is increasing urgency too! But for all the wrong reasons! My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-97x

#AbbaInAugust Day 18: The Uncorker Of Ocean Bottles had one job in the world: to keep an eye out for a “glint of glass” that would indicate a message (mayhaps an #SOS) is floating out into the sea – and for him to deliver it to the recipient. His is a quiet, solitary life that derives meaning from letters that find its way to people whose faces light up from messages “written by a quill dipped in sadness.” My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-eym

I'm in PDX for work today, so of course I went to Powell's after diner. This time, I went on an adventure to the Hawthorn & Home and Garden stores. Since I'm here for a literacy institute, I found this display of snubbed books particularly compelling.

Apparently when I am on hold with our with our payroll provider at work I put library books on hold. Watch them all come in at the same time

Dolly That always seems to happen to me 😏 7y

An auspicious beginning for what turned out to be a lovely book. I was fearful I would not like it because of all the hype, but it lived up to all my expectations. In fact, it surpassed them. Both the illustrations and the story itself are lovely.
