Pickpick

Continuing with my stack of Dorothea Lange books, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this was a graphic novel with beautiful yet haunting illustrations. It goes into detail about the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII and should be required reading for students. It also includes photos by Toyo Miyatake (who was imprisoned in a camp) and Ansel Adams. A part of American history that should not be forgotten. 5⭐️

Mary Coin: A Novel | Marisa Silver

Pickpick

Dorothea Lange‘s most famous photograph from the Depression, Migrant Mother, is the inspiration for this fictionalized tale of Mary Coin, the migrant mother herself. “Vera” is Dorothea Lange‘s counterpart and this book takes you on a journey with both Mary and Vera from 1920 to 1982, and I just loved it. It‘s very true to Dorothea‘s real background and an interesting what if. Recommended for fans of historical fiction and Dorothea Lange. 5⭐️
