pickJust finished this delightfully sad little book—a slice of middle class domestic life in England during WWII—and now I want to read everything Elizabeth Taylor wrote. I loved her wit and related deeply with the main character, though each of the characters was intriguing in their own right. I didn‘t know what to expect from the story, but didn‘t much care, as I simply enjoyed being in it—the real, flawed beauty of human nature, quietly observed.
