These are the 4 unread books I have from #bookofthemonth. I have other #BOTM titles on my Kindle but I‘m not counting those. I may try to tackle them in September for a BOTM #readathon. I probably won‘t get through them all but the top 2 should be pretty quick reads.

Setting in for an exciting Friday night. Rocking my wine spritzer with the #BOTM coozie. Can‘t wait to dig into season 2 of Mindhunter! (I also really want to read the book.)

swishandflick Ooh yay! I didn't realize season 2 was out!! 13h

I have been so busy this week that I am just now opening my #BOTM box two days after it arrived!

I have to say, I am super looking forward to reading this. Just need to finish up some of my current reads first.

I read this while I was in Vegas last weekend and it was super fun, quick, and cute. It made me really miss the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Also there's one rather steamy sex scene which I reached while in the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. 😳

My friend borrowed it and I didn't take a picture. So screenshot from #botm instead.

I was so excited about this memoir, but it was so disappointing. I've found Litsy to be a community that welcomes different perspectives, so here are my thoughts, for what it's worth. Stephanie Land spent much of this memoir offended by the judgment of others, yet that is EXACTLY what she did to everyone else. She judged her clients, the middle class, & made absurd presumptions about people based on material possessions. I've been dirt poor,👇🏽

lele1432 worked minimum wage, divorced single mom with no support, all of that, so I expected to relate. But Stephanie lacks any kind of self-awareness or introspection into her life choices & how they exacerbated her problems. I could not relate to her meltdown over organic milk. It just seemed like even at the age of 30 she didn't understand how life works, & that you can't have what isn't in your budget just because you want it.👇🏽 3d
lele1432 The way she looked down on other co-workers sickened me. You can't have a "don't judge" mantra in your memoir while simultaneously judging people you work with. It was very "I'm doing bad, but at least I'm not like you." She didn't know what her co-workers were going through. She lacked the very compassion she felt she deserved. She had an air of being too good to clean. I know women & men who made this their business & it's very respectable!?? 3d
lele1432 Lastly, you don't disrespect people who allow you in their homes to clean by riffling through their personal belongings, looking at medications to see what illnesses they have, opening boxes of dead family members' ashes, & trying on other people's clothes! It's a shame she was so off-putting, because it overshadowed what should have been an important conversation on poverty. 1 ⭐️😞 (edited) 3d
