When the book matches the restaurant 💕

Groundhog Day but it‘s the first day of college and after you realize you‘re in a time loop, you find out a classmate is stuck in the time loop with you 😳

The book is really funny and engaging, at times kind of racy for YA, and nearly gave me a heart attack in the last 25 pages. Definitely recommend!

Another successful IRL #bookclub meeting! My friend Sarah hosted and made the most delicious snacks. She and I started this book club back in February as a way to connect moms in our county. I‘ve loved every minute! So many lovely, intelligent, insightful new friends.

LiteraryinLawrence Such a nice idea! 5d
BarbaraTheBibliophage Lovely! And a great book to discuss! 5d

I'm Down: A Memoir | Mishna Wolff

Mehso-so

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wolff was a poor white kid in a black neighborhood whose awkward father desperately desired to fit in. When eventually she tested into to a fancy rich kid school, she didn‘t meld there either. Like many, she uses humor as a coping mechanism; both back then and now. This is a much-needed perspective of growing up in poverty, plus she‘s a funny storyteller. However, the writing is unremarkable, and title/cover are a bit cringy. #bookclub

Cinfhen Glad to see bookclub is still going strong 💪🏽 2w
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Yep! This was for my newer, in-person one. It‘s such a fun group! 2w

britt_brooke @Cinfhen I feel like my other group with my high school friends has run it‘s course. I‘m just trying to get through the end of the year. Just not enough participation. And I‘m tired of running ALL the discussions. 😝 2w
Cinfhen I get that ~ I see the boys are back in school!! That‘s crazzzy - summer break is over 2w
britt_brooke @Cinfhen I know, it‘s early! They get a lot of breaks during the school year, but I‘m never ready for the beginning of august. 😩 2w

I read this weeks ago and I forgot to post about it! Read for library #bookclub. I‘m currently reading her newest (tagged⬇️) which has me comparing the two. Young Jane Young is about Jane, bit of a Monica Lewinski-ish character, and the lives touched by her relationship with an older charismatic politician. Not everyone in book club enjoyed the various styles Zevin used—emails, choose your own adventure—but I liked it! We had tons to discuss!

Chelsea.Poole Zevin‘s newest I‘m currently reading: 2w
BooknerdsLife Sounds interesting 🙂 Love her current book & writing so much I'm going to read some of her older ones too. 2w

I found this book pretty meh. I didn‘t fully care about all of the characters enough and found the only female character lacking in motivation. Even getting in her head didn‘t explain enough. That ending 🤷‍♀️ Honestly, I wish I had just been reading Billy‘s book of Mr. Abernathy‘s heroes. A summer book club pick. I still want to read A Gentleman in Moscow which I assume must be far better for all the love it gets. #bookclub
