This tale is about a small Armenian village whose population has dwindled to the point it faces extinction.

This book seems to represent the best & worst of magical realism. The reader meets a quirky group of villagers who believe in curses and folklore. The reader meets so many people, generations of them in short order, it can be tough to keep names and stories straight. Also some of the twists seem like a bit much even for magical realism!

Each chapter is a vignette of a staff member or a guest aboard a luxury spaceship hotel. So many characters to keep up with and really, not much happens. This is more character driven and I prefer plot driven! I‘m not really sure what the author was trying to say or what the point was.
