Marlene's mom says she has bad hair and has it straightened at the salon every Sunday, but Marlene hates the salon and just wants to wear her hair natural. This was a lovely book exploring self-confidence, hair care, family, identity, and Black Dominican joy. The illustrations are lovely and do such a good job of conveying emotion. The author also takes care in handling mom's hesitance toward natural hair. #BIPOC #Comics

I started this the morning before Alice Wong passed, so it took me a bit longer to get through, it was sad and inspiring to hear her mentioned so often throughout LLPS's book. This is hard to rate. It isn't really about the future, it is mostly about 2020-2022 and how GD hard it was. I think this is a good read for people who want to understand the community and life more, but overall it is a bit meandering

ChaoticMissAdventures I do want to be careful recommending LLSP's work. She is a self diagnosed autistic (not her only disability) and I have heard criticism from others in the community about her own diagnosis and how it came about/how she talks about it. Even so I think her work in the community and her POV is important. Especially around mobility. 4d

I baked Biscuits With the Boss, among other things, while I started the tagged book. It‘s interesting, but Snorton does NOT care about clarity. Brace yourself for the very most academical academic language that ever academed.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

This story includes sea dragons mostly hunted for profit in an area of tropical islands, and their eggs are especially prized for magical properties. There is also some interesting magic with the tattoo like markings of some characters. This description includes nothing of the main characters, but that‘s hard without giving away key details.

📷: I listened today as I worked around the house & started some baking projects.

Spending my last few hours of the weekend starting this book. While I really really enjoyed reading my last four books, all romances, I need to switch up genres. This looks cute.
