IndoorDame I wish I had any sort of answer for that question! At first I thought him asking what would happen to all the people who now relied on him was just a rationalization, but then I realized that in a world without social services to fall back even if the question started out self serving, it isn‘t only that. He really does have to decide whose life is more valuable, or how many… I‘m glad I don‘t have a life that requires making that kind of choice! 14mo

Los Miserables / Les Miserables | Victor Hugo

Day 3 of #requiredreadingredo... I‘m so so sorry about this one... I LOVE Les Mis the musical. Almost obsessively. It‘s playing in my car now in fact... but this book was hard and heavy and I read it very young. I also didn‘t “read” and instead listened to the audio book, so that could have contributed to my dislike. #lesmis #24601 @ErinSueG

AshleyHoss820 This one is on my TBR for the 1,001 list. I saw the play on a revolving stage and I was never the same! Gorgeous! I‘m a little nervous about reading the book. 😊 6y

DGRachel Oh no! I LOVED this one. The (600+ page) abridged version was assigned to my gifted English class in 10th grade and I even read the unabridged version for extra credit! 6y

WhiskeyMistress @DGRachel I was homeschooled and my mothers assigned reading was... interesting... so I got handed this assignment in Eighth grade 😂 I really enjoyed the story part, but the long extraneous bits about disease, economy, and the Paris infrastructure just didn‘t work for me at 13. I probably should try again. 6y

TiredLibrarian @WhiskeyMistress I tried twice to read this one, and I never made it further than the sewers of Paris. I love the musical & have seen several different productions of it, but the book is not for me! 6y
