White Wolf
White Wolf | David Gemmell

Skilgannon the Damned had vanished from the pages of history. Following the terrible triumph at Perapolis, the General had taken the legendary Swords of Night and Day and ridden from the lands of Naashan. No-one knew where he had gone, and the assassins sent by the Witch Queen could find no trace of his passing. Three years later, a mob intent on murder gathers outside a distant monastery - facing them stands a single unarmed priest. In a few terrifying seconds their world is changed for ever, and word spreads across the lands of the East. Skilgannon is back. Now he must travel across a perilous, demon-haunted realm seeking a mysterious temple, and the ageless goddess who rules it. With assassins on his trail, and an army of murderous foes ahead, the Damned sets off on a quest to bring the dead to life. But he does not travel alone. The man beside him is Druss the Legend. In a world torn by war, White Wolf is a page-turning tale of love, betrayal and treachery, which examines the nature of heroism and friendship and the narrow lines that divide good from evil, redemption from damnation.

Shows this beloved epic fantasy author at his best. I love how David Gemmell combines epic fantasy with romance.

One of the very few books by David Gemmell l haven't read yet.

Linsy I‘ve never even heard of him! Sounds like you‘d recommend him? 6y
JazzFeathers @Linsy He was a very popular British author of the 1980s and 1990s, one of the firsts to mix fantasy and accurate history. Yes, l do recommend him, if you are a fantasy reader 😀 6y

David Gemmell has always been among my favourite author. I like his fantasy world with little magic and lots of history

TK421 I still haven't read any of his books. What would you recommend I start with? 6y
JazzFeathers @TK421 my all-time favourite is Waylander, which is also one of his first. You don't necessarily need to read his series in order, every novel tends to be stand- alone enough. But he did evolve a lot as a storyteller over his carrer, so the first novels are a lot less refined then the last. 6y
TK421 Thanks! I'll give Waylander a try. 😊 6y
