'Theres warmth and depth in Hunters well-wrought prose. The characters stay with you in the best way' - Sarah Moss, author of Summerwater From the author of The End We Start From, now a major film starring Jodie Comer, Days of Light is a sweeping, gorgeous story for fans of Mothering Sunday and The Hours. She marvels at the way a single day can unravel everything, like ribbon pulled from a present. Easter Sunday, 1938. Ivy is nineteen and ready for her life to finally begin. At Cressingdon, her sprawling, bohemian family and their friends gather for lunch and to await the arrival of a longed-for guest. Britain is on the cusp of war, but in the idyllic Sussex countryside anything feels possible. It is a single, enchanted afternoon that ends in tragedy and will change Ivys life forever. Chronicling six pivotal days across six decades, Days of Light moves through the Second World War and the twentieth century on a radiant journey through a life lived in pursuit of love and in search of an answer. Praise for The End We Start From: 'Utterly brilliant . . . it's perfect' - Nathan Filer 'Megan Hunter is a writer of unnerving power' - Evie Wyld 'Extraordinary' - Financial Times 'Engrossing, compelling and hopeful' - Naomi Alderman

Odd praise, but what I loved most about this book is the structure, told focusing on single days in an entire life that held such significance, those life-changing moments. Beautifully written, so different from her last book The Harpy, this sensual & historical novel, gives me ‘Atonement‘ vibes. And with loose inspiration from one of my favorite places in my home county of Sussex, Charleston, home of the Bloomsbury set, this was just my thing!

squirrelbrain Great review! I got the ARC of this, but still haven‘t read it (such a familiar refrain!). And I love the cover. 3w
BarbaraBB I just bought the tagged one based on your review. Now I think I need to read this next recommendation too! 3w
KarenUK @squirrelbrain yes, definitely all too familiar for me! 😂🤦‍♀️ The cover is beautiful isn‘t it? Definitely captures the countryside pre/post war vibes… 3w
KarenUK @Barbarab I think you might really like both of these… I hope I don‘t steer you wrong! 🤞🤞🤞😍 3w

New book day!

Taking inspiration from the Bloomsbury group, this novel chronicles “six pivotal days across six decades” after a tragic event occurs on Easter Sunday in 1938.

It sounds like my sort of cup o‘ tea!
