Not in My Book
Not in My Book: A Novel | Katie Holt
DECEMBER 2024 INDIE NEXT PICK! LIBRARYREADS TOP PICK FOR DECEMBER! Rosie writes romance novels and listens to Taylor Swift on loop. Aiden is a literary fiction writer who doesn't believe in happy endings. They're about to write a book togetherwhat could go wrong? The Hating Game meets Beach Read in this sexy and hilarious enemies-to-lovers romance from a debut Peruvian-Tennessean voice. Rosie, an idealistic and passionate Peruvian American, leaves her Tennessee hometown to pursue her dream of making it in New York as a writer. But her plan is derailed when she ends up in class with her archnemesis and ex-crush, Aiden Huntingtonan obnoxious, surly, and gorgeous literary fiction writer who doesnt have much patience for the romance genre or for Rosie. Rosie and Aiden regularly go to verbal battle in workshop until their professor reaches her breaking point. She allows them to stay in her class on one condition: they must cowrite a novel that blends their genres. The reluctant writing duo cant help but put pieces of themselves into their accidentally steamy novel, and their manuscript-in-progress provides an outlet for them to confess their feelingsand explore their attraction toward each other. When Rosie and Aiden find themselves competing against each other for a potentially career-changing opportunity, the flames of old rivalry reignite, and their once-in-a-lifetime love story is once again at risk of being shelvedunless they can find a way to end the book on their own terms.

It was way too cringey and clichey. Nothing original, very predictable and even childish. Annoying characters and terrible writing. Should have DNF'ed it...

AnnCrystal Too bad! That's a gorgeous looking book...the cover and sprayed edges 🤩🥺😕📚🎨💝. 2w

Rosie is a student on the creative writing programme. Her favourite genre is romance. Aiden is in the same class and hates romance as well as Rosie, or so it seems. As rivals in the class, the professor, Ida, can only think of one solution - write a book together.
This was such a good read! The writing was easy to love, great pacing and brilliant characters.
The romance was well balanced and there were many cute moments. Highly recommend! 4🌟

The premise seemed interesting, and the book definitely wasn‘t. There was not enough difference in characters‘ voices, their personalities kept shifting, they behaved like middle schoolers, and wrote like middle schoolers. Lots of telling, not nearly enough showing of anything. Unconvincing romance. Cringey sex scenes. I felt the author was writing what she thinks a romance reader would like, so the story is all over the place. Mature content.

This academic enemies to lovers romance was so much fun! It‘s a great concept where Rosie writes romance, Aiden writes literary fiction, and with all their bickering in their MFA class, their professor forces them to combine genres and write together. Through the characters they write, they begin to open up to each other. It‘s super spicy, but not until the second half. I had some complaints about the final conflict, but overall I loved it!

BethM Ooohhh this sounds lovely! 7mo
Kaylamburson Really cute! The audio narrators were great, too! @BethM 7mo

An over the top premise with over the top characters. There were good bits but it was all just a bit too much. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for an ARC. The characters acted in such thoughtless, rude, disrespectful, and downright mean ways at times that I just had a hard time cheering for them.
