pickIf you like good old-fashioned story telling, this is a excellent choice. It would also be a great book club pick because it provides so much fodder for discussion. Chestnutt's themes on race still resonate today.

Just a few books by POC from some of the African American lit classes I took in undergrad and graduate school. The Marrow of Tradition is one that I had never heard of, but loved.
