For example: a evil witch cursed the honey witches to never be loved, “in order to stop their bloodline“.
Now not only can you definitely manage to have babies without love, the honey witches can apparently just... create babies. On their own.
Soo... what good does this do to end the bloodline, remind me?
It also just feels really cursory about some stuff... just, totally wooden.
I am trying to decide if I want to spend the time to finish this (another hour). I can see where it's going, but it's doing it clumsily, and I don't like the writing style.
pickIt took me a while to get into this book, which starts off with nothing new, really. But the characters grew on me, and the plot does take an interesting turn or two. The descriptions of the MCs home, Innisfree, are lush and lovely and cozy, and the romance — from enemies to star-crossed lovers — is very sweet. Not a lot of surprises, but a warm and largely peaceful read, with cheering elements of family, friendship, and love.
pickMarigold leaves everything behind to join her grandma on Innisfree to train as the next honey witch to protect the island from the mysterious ash witch.
Overall it was delightful but the pacing seemed off and the magic and conflict didn‘t feel as thought out or deep as it could‘ve been. It felt like something was missing.

pickThis book's magic system wasn't completely explained until the protagonist was in battle towards the end, and the pacing felt uneven. It gets a pick for the enchanting characters and cottage core vibe plus it cured me of my reading slump.
With lines like this, The Honey Witch is successfully rescuing me from my reading funk.

She's all too eager to accept her role, but it comes with a price. Honey witches are cursed to never fall in love. When a skeptical woman shows up at her door though, Marigold is determined to convince her magic exists. Their growing feelings seem to defy the curse, but the consequences are severe.
The temperature has leveled out a bit and doesn't feel as disastrously hot as it has been recently! I've been taking advantage of that and going to the park for a walk after work most nights I'm not working late! 🌿☀️
I've heard really wonderful things about this book, so I'm excited to give it a try! 💕📚
