pickAbsolutely epic novel. Rich, detailed setting. Strong, flawed, lovable characters. The narrator is so brilliant and has such a distinct voice. Plot of the main character follows the rise and fall of the Aztec Empire. TW: rape, gore, mutilation. 5 out of 5 on GR. Highly, highly recommend. Will be reading more from this author.
pickThe ending made me sad, the colonization of a people that did not see disaster coming.

pickI'm doing research for a book I've started on and stumbled across the book by #garyjennings. Aztec is such a well researched book. He really brings each scene to life with vivid detail. Warning: some of the scenes are gruesome! But then the book is about the Aztecs.
