I didn't have a clear standout choice for #12Booksof2023 for February, so picked this one because it was a very entertaining read and is set at Christmas. So get cracking if you want another book for #WinterGames!

Andrew65 Sounds an interesting read. 2mo

I don't usually do candles, but I found this candle holder amongst the Christmas decorations and thought, why not use it for #Hyggehour ? I had set out to have the cozy time make my current Terrible Book more tolerable, but it just made it worse, so I switched to the tagged book because who doesn't want to see Jerry again (everyone who's pissed him off that's who)

I don't have a physical copy of a single romance novel, so for today's #dailyphotochallenge theme of “Love“, I tried to gather up all the romance stories that at least have a Christmas scene or theme that I'm going to re-read this month. These aren't on my TBR - I'm just giving myself permission to re-read them for points (obviously my sole reason 😉).

#WinterGames #SnowflakeSquad @PuddleJumper

PuddleJumper I haven't read many of the Hexworld series, can A Christmas Hex be read as a stand alone? 3mo
Faranae @PuddleJumper I'm pretty sure it can, if you don't mind doing a little work to understand the magic system. None of the other Hex world characters make an appearance in it and it doesn't really refer to the continuity of those. 3mo
PuddleJumper @Faranae Ok great, thanks. I might give that one a go 3mo

Delightful novella, with a compelling plot, an atmospheric Victorian setting, and such clever and witty dialogue.

Read for “Flowers“ square of #ISpyRomanceBingo and “Any holiday“ square of #LGBTQBookBingo .

Faranae How toxic would you say the relationship is in this one? I find KJ Charles tends to go for the more “I'm not sure these two should be a couple but I still want to read about them...“ style romances, if that makes any sense? But not always! Let's call it “on a scale of Will/Kim to Saul/Randolph“ maybe? 😆 13mo
willaful Really not much. One had done the other wrong in the past but had Reasons and makes amends. I think they're very well suited; I was just saying on Mastadon that I wanted to read an adventure for them after they've been together 40 years. 💝 😁 (edited) 13mo
Faranae Oh that sounds nice! I'll have to pick it up while I'm on this gay romance binge 13mo

KJ Charles is pretty much an insta-buy for me at this point, and this was no different, despite it being from a series (Lilywhite Boys) that I haven't read yet (for shame!). Very much that KJ Charles-y Victorian queer vibes with characters you love and the fluffy feels we deserve. Convinced me that I need to read the other books in the series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
