Bleeding Heart Yard
Bleeding Heart Yard: Breathtaking new thriller from Ruth Galloway's author | Elly Griffiths
9 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
A breathtaking and gripping new thriller set in London from the author of the Dr Ruth Galloway Mysteries. DS Caitlin Fitzgerald has a secret - but it's one she's deleted from her memory. In the 1990s when she was at school, she and her friends killed a fellow pupil. Thirty years later, Caitlin is happily married and loves her job as a police officer. One day her husband persuades her to go to a school reunion and another ex-pupil, Garfield Rice, is found dead, supposedly from a drug overdose. As Garfield was an eminent Labour MP and the investigation is high profile, it's headed by Caitlin's new boss, DI Harbinder Kaur. The trouble is, Caitlin can't shake the feeling that one of her old friends has killed again. Is Caitlin right, or was Garfield murdered by one of his political cronies? It's in Caitlin's interest to skew the investigation so that it looks like the latter and she seems to be succeeding. Until someone else is killed...

I felt like I was so behind on Christmas decorations. Then I realized it‘s only December 4th so it‘s not the end of the world our tree and lights were just put up today 😆 I‘m now enjoying the twinkling lights and warm Christmas tree glow with a new book (newest book by a favorite author, hoping I can stick with it 🤞) and my nose less reindeer socks (honestly don‘t know what happened between last year and this year but we‘re rolling with it lol)

The opening third of this book seemed slow, and it took me a while to get into it, but I got to the point where I couldn‘t put it down. The third book to feature DI Harbinder Kaur, she‘s been promoted and moved to London, so there was a lot to set up. Probably not Griffiths‘ best, but still darn good, and I‘m looking forward to the next installment.

The latest in the DI Harbinder Kaur series, this time a fellow police officer has a secret from her past and a recent death causes suspicion to fall on her and a group of friends I thought it was OK, but not one of her better books.

Elly Griffiths‘ Ruth Galloway books are my favorite mystery series, and Harbinder Kaur is another great lead character. In this third book, she‘s moved to London and gotten a promotion so the setting and supporting characters are different. I thought it was still good, and the mystery was interesting, but I missed some of the original two books in this one. I will definitely read the next one!

“Is it possible to forget that you‘ve committed a murder?” I‘m only 30 pages in and already hooked!

I was so excited when this appeared on my Kindle yesterday. Ellie Griffiths is one of my favorite authors, and I‘ve really enjoyed the two previous Harbinder Kaur mysteries. Even though I‘m in the middle of another novel, I‘m jumping right in.

EvieBee Okay. I need to start on the series already. Thanks for the recommendation! 2w

Griffiths is already one of my go-to authors and I am so pleased to see her ramping up the Harbinder Kaur series at the same time she ends Ruth Galloway.
Kaur is a magnificent protagonist - wry, funny, brave, and well-able to hold her own in the male-dominated world of London CID. Her social awkwardness is endearing and familiar to anyone who has found themselves in a new, unfamiliar, but exciting city. Out Nov 15.
