Okay, last post for now!! We had a fabulous couple of snow days and it's been absolutely delightful to just sit around and read. I can't remember the last time I just sat and read an entire book in an afternoon and this one was just perfect for that. Like most of Layne's books, this is fun and romance-y. It wasn't my favorite of her stories because I felt like the two main characters spent a little too long in the antagonistic/arguing part ⬇
Read this in one sitting. It was quick, engaging and I liked both Violet and Cain. They grew a lot and their coming together made perfect sense.
3.5/5
This is a gender-swapped My Fair Lady inspired romance. I found both characters pretty difficult to like early on. Violet, as the Henry Higgens-type character, is a snob and Cain, as the Eliza Doolittle stand in, was unnecessarily rude in the early part of the book, but as the story went on both characters grew on me. I liked the journey that both characters went on to make themselves over internally to have the life they wanted.
Violet Victoria Townsend was plenty aware that she was the very epitome of a stock character for snob.
