The blockbuster danmei/Boys' Love novels from China that inspired the animated series! This epic historical fantasy about a prince and the mysterious man by his side is now in English, for the very first time. Born the crown prince of a prosperous kingdom, Xie Lian was renowned for his beauty, strength, and purity. His years of dedication and noble deeds allowed him to ascend to godhood. But those who rise, can also fall...and fall he does, cast from the Heavens again and again and banished to the mortal realm. Eight hundred years after his mortal life, Xie Lian has ascended to godhood for the third time. Now only a lowly scrap collector, he is dispatched to wander the earthly realm to take on tasks appointed by the heavens to pay back debts and maintain his divinity. Aided by old friends and foes alike, and graced with the company of a mysterious young man with whom he feels an instant connection, Xie Lian must confront the horrors of his past in order to dispel the curse of his present. This Chinese xianxia fantasy novel series built around the romanticized love between two men (danmei) is the newest work from author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, and has spawned an ongoing multimedia franchise that's beloved across the world--including the animated series (donghua) that amassed 100+ million views in just its first month. The Seven Seas English-language edition will include covers from ?????? (tai3_3), and exclusive, all-new interior illustrations from ZeldaCW.

I love them. Can't wait to read the second volume ❤️

julesG How explicit are they? Would they be appropriate for a young YA reader? 1y
CoveredInRust @julesG Apologies, I was commenting on the wrong series before. Early on, the volumes in the story are not explicit at all. This particular story has some really creepy things in it, but nothing a teen couldn't handle. Later, however, I expect this story will become quite explicit as the two characters start their relationship. This author tends toward that. The story is long (8 volumes when it's fully published in english) and I don't know all + 1y
CoveredInRust @julesG that will go on in it yet as I've tried to avoid spoilers. I would suggest looking up how explicit they get with a quick search. The story is completed and someone definitely has the answers posted, I'm sure 😁😁 1y
CoveredInRust @julesG update: Actually, a quick look (I was curious) says there's no explicit content in this story. So they may be appropriate, after all 😊 I'd still do a quick content search to see why they have a 17+ rating, though. Hope this helps 😁 1y
julesG Thanks very much, this helps. 1y

Ah this is the way to pass time waiting for your car at the car doctor! Onward to book 2. If I finish book 2 I will have reached my 2022 reading goal!

Ps. Yes I realize the actual term is mechanic but my car is having a checkup and vaccinations so we only go to car doctors here!

Red book + red tea. I‘m about halfway through this one, and while I like it just fine it hasn‘t grabbed me the way I hoped it would. Sadness. Maybe it‘ll be like THE GRANDMASTER OF DEMONIC CULTIVATION, which underwhelmed me at first but went on to be my favourite book of 2020.

BiblioLitten Is that roiboos tea? 2y
xicanti @BiblioLitten it‘s hibiscus and rose hip. 2y

Library haul! I‘m especially excited to see THE STRANGERS by Katherena Vermette, but think I‘m gonna start with the tagged book. I‘m in a fantasy mood.

This book is next level.

I love a good gay romance, and was recommended to read books by MXTX. And she does not disappoint. Intrigue, Bad boys and a main character that keeps you on your toes the whole book. Also, that art work? 10 out of 10. I‘ll be reading book 2 here soon. But I have to say… check out book one and enjoy.

When I started reading this I didn‘t understand what was going on and whose who. The glossary really helped me. I didn‘t expect that I ended up falling in love with this novel.

I‘ve been reading this book every other day. It did not get hooked me until at least chapter three or four. I was intrigued by the show on #netflix, but saw that it had a #danmei/ novel and was curious. Now, I just want to read more. I need to find out what happens next.
