8 posts | 10 read | 9 to read
In a suspenseful collection of stories featuring fierce womenincluding one never-before-published novellaNew York Times bestseller Laura Lippman showcases why she is one of todays top crime writers. The award-winning master of psychological suspense is in top form in this collection of diverse and diabolically clever stories. In the never-before-published Just One More, a married couplelonging for that old romantic sparkcreates a playful diversion that comes with unexpected consequences. Lippmans beloved Baltimore PI Tess Monaghan keeps a watchful eye on a criminally resourceful single father in Seasonal Work, while her mother, Judith, realizes that the life of The Everyday Housewife is an excellent cover for all kinds of secrets. In Slow Burner, a husbands secret cell phone proves to be a dicey temptation for a suspicious wife. A fathers hidden past piques the curiosity of a young snoop in The Last of Sheila-Locke Holmes. Plus seven other brilliantly crafted stories of deception, murder, dangerous games, and love gone wrongirrefutable evidence that Laura Lippmans riveting fiction will more than satisfy any crime reader.

Liz and Phil have been married for a long time, perhaps too long in Phil's opinion.

This isn't the first time Liz has checked Phil's phone and this isn't the first time Phils been caught out.

But whose deceiving who here?

This is part of the Hush collection.

At the time of posting this collection is available on Kindle Unlimited.

I read 1 of the 12 short stories per day- no matter what the story I was continually surprised & at times, astonished at the outcomes. The author wrote these stories over a span of 12 years, & some had been previously published. They were all new to me, & kept me riveted. As the cover flap says better than I can, they are stories of “deception, murder, dangerous games, and love gone wrong.” Highly recommend! #libraryfind

I enjoy reading one short story before turning my light out at night. This is from my latest library visit. So far, each story is unique. I love the simplicity of the cover with its strokes of orange-red.

Each short story sucked me in. Always impressed at how much can happen in a few short pages, engaging characters, settings, plots, emotions... Laura Lippman is clearly a very talented writer.
