Amazing Edie Eckhart: Book 1 | 
pickWorking in a branch library earlier this week, v happy to find Rosie Jones‘s MG novel on the desk I was using (didn‘t know it existed). Then the rest of the week happened, so I bought a copy.
Edie‘s excited to be starting secondary school with best-friend Oscar - but they‘re not in the same class, & everything‘s changing… It‘s a lightly done story of new friends, learning what you CAN do, and starting to think about your disability (Edie has
rockpools cerebral palsy) /how other people react to you, and beginning to work out your sexuality. I wasn‘t mad-keen on the ‘everyone has a boyfriend but me‘ storyline (these kids are 11) though I get why she‘d used it. But overall fun and sweetly done. And Edie‘s a great character! 3y
rockpools The author is a UK comedian with cerebral palsy. She was on Question Time this week and got the expected grief online from people who didn‘t think she should be on TV because they‘d have to slow down and listen to her. 3y
