One secret.Eight cryptic words.Lifetimes of ruin. Wayland Maynard is just eight years old when he sees his father kill himself, finds a note that reads I am not who you think I am, and is left reeling with grief and shock. Who was his father if not the loving man Wayland knew? Terrified, Wayland keeps the note a secret, but his reasons for being afraid are just beginning. Eight years later, Wayland makes a shocking discovery and becomes certain the note is the key to unlocking a past his mother and others in his town want to keep buried. With the help of two friends, Wayland searches for the truth. Together they uncover strange messages scribbled in his fathers old books, a sinister history behind the towns most powerful family, and a bizarre tragedy possibly linked to Waylands birth. Each revelation raises more questions and deepens Waylands suspicions of everyone around him. Soon, hell regret he ever found the note, trusted his friends, or believed in such a thing as the truth. I Am Not Who You Think I Am is an ingenious, addictive, and shattering tale of grief, obsession, and fate as eight words lead to lifetimes of ruin.

So #NovelNovember was an extremely productive Readathon for me. 🤩 I started it with only 5 of these #bookspinbingo books completed, and now I only have three left! I also read 30 or so comics and graphic novels this past week 🥷🏻🧟‍♂️🧛🏻‍♂️

Thank you for hosting these amazing events @Andrew65 and @TheAromaofBooks !

One could almost call this a cautionary tale.

But…

The ending was too devastating and over-the-top for me. You all know I like dark books, so I am just as confused as you are as I write this. I did not like the utter despair of it all. I think this story will haunt me, but not in a good way.

Wow- I really couldn‘t stop listening to this rather crazy story! Set in a small Vermont town, the bulk of the book comes from Wayland Maynard‘s perspective. When he was eight, his father shot himself- but now, as a teenager, Wayland starts to doubt his own memories about the day. Uncovering the note his father left only leads to more secrets coming to light. I gasped out loud with a few of the plot‘s genuinely unexpected turns! #AudioColoring

Texreader That‘s gorgeous! Nice audiocoloring!! I love doing that! 2mo
TorieStorieS @Texreader Thank you so much!! With this one I was also audiocleaning, driving and walking more- any reason to listen! 🤣 2mo

Wayland was 8 years old when he saw his father commit suicide, now he is 16, and he keeps finding things that don't add up to what really happened to his father. He employs the help of 2 of his friends to help him figure out what the town will not say.
This dark thriller kept me interested from beginning to the end, with many twists and turns. Looking forward to reading more by Eric Rickstad.
