Second chances are sweeter than ever in Charlotte Steins steamy Dark Obsession seriesperfect for fans of Katy Evansas a self-reliant college girl falls for a reformed bully whos desperate to make up for lost time. Letty Carmichael cant believe her eyes when she catches a glimpse of her high school tormenter, wrestling champ Tate Sullivan, on campus. College was supposed to be her escape from Tates constant ridicule. Now hes in her classes again, just waiting for his chance to make her life hell. But when Letty and Tate are partnered up for an assignmenton sex in cinema, of all thingsshe starts to see a kinder, gentler side of him. And when she realizes Tate knows more about sex than she could ever guess at, he soon starts making her blush in a whole new way. Tate Sullivan is haunted by regret over his cruelty toward Letty. So when she agrees to work with him, he seizes his chance to make amends. He cant blame her for not believing hes for real, but soon Tate starts to break down her wall. Letty is shocked by how sensitive Tate can be. Still, desiring him feels ludicrous. Loving him is impossible. Craving him is beyond all reason. So why cant she stop? I read all Stein‘s books in a single sitting 💙 She dives into her heroine‘s voice without preamble, often shirking conventions like dialogue tags and simple scene blocking to give her work a dreamy stream-of-consciousness feel. She always calls out double standards and consent issues rather than excuse them—and she takes us to film school in this one as Letty & Tate complete a project about sex in cinema. #romantsy

Jokila The book‘s premise (girl wins the heart of her cruel but hot high school bully) isn‘t cheap wish fulfillment but a tender exploration of trauma, healing and forgiveness that sets healthy relationship expectations of respect and care rather than exploit their absence in our culture. 6y

✨💖 Just a heads up that this is 99 cents on Amazon right now! (And, if you didn‘t know already, Charlotte Stein is the BEST!) ☺️✨ #romantsy

I was intrigued by the premise of this book and was even more so when i saw good feedback/reviews on here too. It was pretty good! I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters 😃 Although i thought the ending was a bit sudden? I was a bit confused... 📖📚 #marchbooks #romance

This is now on my keeper shelf. I cannot describe how awesome this book is. I've reread it three times already! Definitely give this book a go. Such an interesting premise - high school bully redeems himself and becomes a love interest. #charlottestein #neversweeter

I finished Never Better late last night. Loved the banter between the two characters. I'm usually 50/50 on figuring out twists and this one I figured out almost immediately. I loved the heroine's reaction to it though. That was unexpected. The ending was weird and confusing. I think there was a happy ending?

Again, this book is currently not in the Litsy database. #romantsy

EloisaJames I know exactly what you mean! I read it over and over. I guess she moves? (Keeping this vague so no spoilers) 7y

It's winter storming out. There is no way I'm venturing outside. Starting Never Better by Charlotte Stein.

It's not in the Litsy database so I tagged the previous book in the series. #currentlyreading #romantsy

JenicaDawn I loved Never Sweeter! Hopefully Never Better is equally as good! 7y

I absolutely loved this book! I'm a huge fan of romances where the author sets herself a huge challenge--and frankly, this is one of the most challenging set-ups I've seen. The heroine was horribly bullied in high school, to the point of needing two years of rehab. She looks around her freshman year and who does she see in class? One of the bullies. I'll leave it there, just adding that it is all enormously satisfying!

First, I must say I rarely read from the erotica romance genre, but I heard about this book on a podcast. Wow! This book was so amazing! For almost the first half there are no naughty bits, but even without anything of that sort the sexual tension and romantic buildup is fabulous. In this story the main character is conflicted when her high school bully shows up in her college film class. It's a really fun and sensual read.

The best part of this book was the writing! Charlotte Stein‘s use of voice and metaphor is so flipping fantastic that the writing felt almost poetic. LOVED. IT

This is the second novel in the Dark Obsession series and I very much enjoyed it (staying up too late AGAIN to finish it). It's about a girl who has to face her high school tormentor again in college. The author ends the book with this dedication that hits right in the feels for anyone who has ever dealt with bullying. It always gets better.
